Krul should have stopped Bale's second effort, which was pretty tame as shots go, and his distribution was shocking. Something happened around the 80th minute though and he decided to start playing, it was like watching a completely different person.

I still think, however you dress it up, it was even game for the majority. Niggly off the ball fouls and some street-wise play from Spurs cut down our left handside's effectiveness, whether you call that blatant cheating or gamesmanship is open to interpretation. Our midfield looked good against certain top 4 opposition, so I'm happy, especially as we don't look a million miles apart from you, with the actual difference being one player, Bale.

 

MA has strong connections at Spurs, do you think they might look favourably at a bid for Bale from him?

I guess it shows how differently two sets of fans can view the game. I thought several of your attacking players were going down like a tonne of bricks under minimal contact and rightly ended up with nothing.

Ah well, off to the Europa League for both of us now. Do you guys want Pardew to start fielding a stronger team now that you're into the knockouts or are you more concerned with the league?

 

I want Pardew to take it semi-seriously. Put out half a decent team, which we have an adequate squad for now. If we win and get through, hopefully our league form will have picked up by the next round and we'll be in a position to take it seriously. If we lose, oh well, we wouldn't know what to do with silverware anyway, and we focus on the league.
