Throughout Ireland security forces have been forced into a large scale operation following threats to the English Queen during her visit to the island.

Whilst no right thinking person can condone the kind of mentality that would lead someone to make such threats - surely they are beyond the hope of a civil society - many have questioned the outspoken and often provocative nature of The Queen herself.

In a free society we all have our right to our opinion, nobody should be subject to such threats because of their beliefs, no matter how abhorrent to decent people they may be. However, is it wise for such a public figure to question authority in this way? To use their platform to make such obviously inflammatory statements regarding "Our loyal troops". When someone in such a position questions the authority of the European Courts in their adjudication of human rights cases they risk a reaction.

Other leaders of nations have visited the Emerald Isle in the past without such a reaction. President Sarkozy came and went without incident. As did one or two of his wives. Weber, president of the Bundesbank, paid visit without receiving the hatred and vitriol that The Queen has. Even though he was there to ask for his money back. President Obama is due to visit at nearly the same time, without the same fuss. And he's ****ing black. And mulsim. Or something.

In short, The Queen has every right to visit where she wants. And all of us applaud her right to do so, but really...

She's a bit of a mouthy Prod, right?

She should take a few lessons in dignity from Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

I do wonder if the assassination has all been carefully planned, the powers that be want Wills and Kate on the throne, they'll be sending Charles to Afghanistan next.

Mind when she cupped her ears at Trooping the Colour? You never saw Queen Victoria doing that.

They've just found a second one.

As a matter of interest, is there a reason they're calling it a 'viable improvised explosive device' rather than a bomb?
