This is clearly what MON is all about. I know Arsenal are a top team but to me we have no balls and this is down to the Manager not letting the player express themselves thus not being caught too high up the pitch and meaning we never have an attack because the gap it just too far between attack and midfield. Therefore MON mind set clearly shows he is all about not being beaten instead of trying to win matches. Pays £5 million as a back up to fletcher - MON is starting to really piss me off.
Quite a few of us a feeling impatient mate but now isn't the time to truely question MON. MON needs the summer to buy 2-3 high quality players and at that point he will have shaped the squad to his own specification. If we play the same boring defensive football next season then I doubt MON will be here long-term. That is a big if as we may be playing attacking free-flowing football... I sincerely hope we are.
It is plain foolishness to expect us to play two up front against Champion League sides. Even with five in midfield Wiltshire and co ran the show in the first half. Where I agree with you when the Gooners had a man sent off Graham should have come on soon as.
OP is dead right. MOn sets his team out to hold the opposition for as long as possible (seems that way anyway)....set up for a draw, get a draw or a defeat, go for the win might get draw at worst . If we get beat having a right go then I can take that. Came away feeling a bit better after the last 20 yesterday, but why the hell don't we start a game by going for it. Ahem.....4-4-2
SOOOOOOOOO...we change our tactis, Give THEM something to think about. It was so easy in the first half. Might not be everyone cup of tea but two up top. BYEPASS the midfield. Wenger would have crapped himself if we started 4-4-2. Instead we did EXACTLY what he expected us to do. AND WE DID IT.. What kind of team talk does MON need to give when nothing changes from week to week.?
Well using your logic you would be happy to lose say 5-1, rather than being unlucky to get either one or three points like we deserved yesterday.
Personally thought wilshere was poor yesterday. Cazorla looked world class. 2 up front yesterday wouldve seen us out of the game before half time and people slating the manager for playing 2 up top against a side like Arsenal
WHY DID WE DESERVE 1 POINT......The. Fact that we got beat 1-0 and had a bit of a go in the-last 20 minutes? We also could easily have been 6 down, We had 3/4 chances when they went down to 10 men BUT SO DID THEY. In fact they were closer to making it 2-0 by hitting the post. Sory mate. Red and white eyes, look at the game as a whole and not the last 20.
It just goes to show how far away we are from cementing 8th place when the arse are 5th and we couldn't even achieve a draw at home against 10 men. I'm sure that if our manager had opened up like Newcastle did (at the emirates) we might of come away with the glory. Fair enough, Newcastle took a spanking but at the end of the day it was a helluva game to watch and we ended up with the same points total, nada. As much as I dislike to say it, atleast Newcastle are having a go at the so called big clubs. Infact, thats why they beat Chelsea. Our squad is good enough to come away with points if only we played 4-4-2. I'm happy to let MON do his stuff this summer but if next season is 4-5-1 defensive football even the diehards will become unsettled.
Adam Johnson was dubbed a "great buy" by the whole of the footballing community but the player himself has let the club but more importantly MON down. Spending wise I think we are still losing out, nearly £30million on Fletcher/Graham/Johnson is way too much money, comparing with Newcastle/Swansea who have amassed a whole team for less than that.
Problem with Johnson is I've watched him play some fantastic passes showing the ability he has - through ball for N'Diaye at reading, the crossfield pass for Fletcher earlier in the season and a couple of fantastic passes at the weekend - but that's just it - these are probably his biggest contributions outside of his goals and the only memorable part of his games - 5 or 6 of them (10 or 11 all season including his gfoals) in 20 odd games that he has played! He has the ability - but doesn't seem to have the application!
Exactly! Some of our fans aren't happy unless we get a "big money signing" like that will solve our problems. It should be "the right signings" that get talked about. I worry that MON is going to spunk loads of our money, not achieve any success and then the next manager will have nothing. At least Bruce was good with transfers and generally always balanced the books.
Spot on against an excellent Arsenal team, who imo if they had a Darren Bent at the sharp end would be title contenders. It would have been suicide. However and this is the crux of the debate, against anyone other than the top 5 or 6, we have to be more adventurous. We must play 2 up front at WBA imo, as they are off form at the moment and could be caught. It's the inflexible nature of the beast that frustrates not the tactic itself imo.
