Nope no one is more competitive than our H ;)

I would like to go for the prem , when there are solid foundations built to stay there, being a yoyo club long term is damaging considering our past history ,getting the right financial decisions would not be guaranteed!! The way things are these days money talks heaps! If you havent got it you wont be able to compete in the prem without a solid base , Like a 4 sided stadium a minimum crowd of 20000 plus! and a sugar daddy would help a lot too! Like you correctly state a sensible win bonus structure and a lower basic salary! would be good , but could you attract a good enough player with a lower basic salary!
For the next couple of seasons we will still be repairing the damage of the last premiership trip!, as an aside I wouldnt want us to challenge for Derbys worst side in history title either!

Someone told me the other day that i was more competitive than most of the men he knew lol. i'm hopeless to the point of pathetic sometimes! lol. And i understand what you're saying. I would love to do a West Brom, but actually, this is the first season in a long while they've managed to not come back down again. I just find it so frustrating starting all over again.

The point is that they bounce well - they are geared for it and do not get carried away either when they go up or down

Plus they have a well run club ,their finances are ok and they have a chairman with money if needed! If we ever get to that stage then yes we would be ready to give the prem a shot!

Yep - but they had to start somewhere - if we can avoid paying out big money - keep the cream of the youngsters and grow experience there is no reason why we could not get there - I still hope next year will be one where we can mount a play off push

Yes - I am overstating it - we are not as big a club as WBA in the first place - but theirs is the sort of model I would like ot follow - other clubs like Leicester used to be bounce clubs too

Watford's problem is our current state, we have a limited supporter base, a limited ground and an even more limited owner.

Our £15m debt is "quite small", but because of poor backing the debt is at the limit. Our owner wants the debt reduced and this is very difficult at the mo. I see 2 years of real austerity before someone like the Russo's come back in.

As for playing chess online, it might be something my Dad would like.

Been supporting Watford for 45 years now and try to get to the games up North and coincide visits 'back home' with home games.

Now I'm living in Warrington I'm a season ticket holder at The Halliwell Jones Stadium - home of the Warrington Wolves Rugby League team and have been for about 8 seasons. Back to back Challenge Cup wins have boosted crowds with an average just under 11,000, modern stadium with great facilities (you can stand on the terracing with a pint!) and building work to increase the capacity to start at the end of the season. Season tickets cost £170.00 for adults and junior season tickets give admission to all away games as well as home ones for £80.00.

It really is a great sport - miles better than Union - but unfortunately it doesn't get the press/media coverage that Union does. It would do some of the current day prima donnas playing football to watch a game of Rugby League as there's no play acting, feigning injury (and the tackling is hard), back chat to referees, etc. Football could learn a lot from Rugby League!

    I'd recommend it to anyone.

Harlequins are not having a good time of it at the moment!

I try to get see Lancashire in the cricket, especially the Twenty20 games - an afternoon in Manchester for a few beers then to Old Trafford for 5 o'clock for the cricket - great day!

Endurance racing, role on the Le Mans 24hrs though will not be there this year...... Being a welll run yoyo club could be very exciting if they don't spend the money frivolously and I'd like to see us go up and not buy but give the lads a chance. As a pay structure I was thinking 10 days ago how about making a players share issue, same as you do with company golden handcuff shares, cashable upon promotion to the prem...and with loyalty bonuses added sothe likes of Doyley get rewards for being part of WATFORD coyh

Welcome to not606 WH. <ok> Have to say I agree with you about RL. Having lived on and off for 35 years in Queensland, I have a bit of affection for the game - have been a Brisbane Broncos fan since their inception - and have often thought that some of the games 'rules' would benefit football for spectators.

A guy who coached a football team I played for out there tried his hand at coaching league in England - it was either with Warrington or Wakefield, can't remember which. Ever heard of John Harbin? He swapped back to football a few years ago and managed Coventry before going back to Oz.

I`m going to go the other way I prefer Union to league ,just cant get to grips with the we have 6 goes and you get 6 goes ! That said when opposing front rows keep collapsing the scrum and the ref is weak ,it can be tedious!

Not to mention the never-ending rucks and mauls and the constant booting the ball upfield for a line out! League is a far more open game that lends itself to greater skill and fitness - I've known League prop forwards who can out sprint Union wingers.
