By the way - GFH have rejected the offer http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20130210/gfh-capital-a-message-to-fans_2247585_3071844
Eire - what did you make of this line in that message? "Off the pitch, we have made significant investment of working capital that was crucial to keeping the club running."
Read somewhere they had made a couple of interim payments of 2m each to keep club running. Don't think it's any secret club has been leaking money somewhere for quite a while. I don't pretend to understand accounts but read enough summaries of our last ones to be worried. Have to be careful though about saying anything negative as I've already been accused of whingeing a few times today
We don't mind you whining about the state of affairs of the club. It's when you accuse GFH-C of being exactly the same as bates and run by bates or a front for bates or that we're in the same situation as before just because the tickets for every match aren't a quid and we didn't buy the Barcelona B team in January. It's stuff like this that proves they are different, they are willing to put money in from their own pockets to pay the deficit in the accounts, deficits that were a result of bates mismanagement, and that he wouldn't even cut out all the things that were causing it to fix it. They have pumped money in to keep the club afloat. Our team was never going to be much better after January than it was before as long as Warnock's in charge and has one eye on Cornwall. This season is a write off, I hope we don't make the play offs because if we do, and we don't get promoted, Warnock will stick around for "just one more season" of playing easy to defend against football that has no cutting edge whatsoever, struggling to get 2-1 victories and getting overwhelmed in 6-1 defeats.
Leeds owners GFH Capital have confirmed they have turned down a bid by an undisclosed party to buy a controlling stake in the club. please log in to view this image PA PhotosLeeds: Owned by GFH Capital It has been reported that a Yorkshire-based consortium made an offer for a 51% share of the Championship side with a view to securing a phased buy-out. The identities of the consortium members have not been disclosed. "We are aware of growing speculation regarding new investment at Leeds United,'' GFH Capital said in a statement on Leeds' official website. "As can be expected with a club as fantastic as Leeds United, since our acquisition we have received several offers to invest in the club alongside us. "The most recent offer was for a majority stake and has not been accepted. "Although we continue to seek strategic investors, we will only bring on board those who we feel can make a positive contribution to the sustainable success of Leeds United.''
Ughh, I am getting slightly bored of all this investment/takeover/GFH ****. In a way, I just wish they kept it a tightly held secret from the off. Announced the takeover when it actually happened and then again this time don't say anything until something has actually happened.
Contraire Marcus - He is this weeks soppy bollox winner for his West Ham pearler http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/196053-Soppy-bollocks-winner-week-twelve
well if they do get it. I'll take my hat off to them, making 17 million in only a couple months is pretty decent
Steve Parkin Adam Pearson And an indian guy who owns Bon Marche are involved this yorkshire consortium tried to buy leeds in 2004 and offered more than bates but Krasner was a crook so Bates won!!! Bates wouldn't sell to this consortium but these guys want us to do well. Lawrence Tomlinson also mentioned
Lawrence Tomlinson £500 million worth Steve Parkin was £100 million 10 year ago no idea now The Bon Marche guy has to be worth a lot but no idea n don't know how to find out. I reckon they will be able to buy a few decent players
Tomlinson would do fine. I suppose a lot depends on how their values are assessed. If it's in property, that might not translate into ready cash, aproblem I suspect gfh may be having. Hopefully these guys have it stored in piggybanks
