Okay, here's the thing. I was just listening to TalkSport on my way home, and they had a caller, a Celtic supporter, who was talking about how he enjoyed entertaining football, and obviously someone then mentioned Arsenal and their attractive way of playing. He went on to say how he would rather be entertained by the football on the pitch, than playing hoofball, etc etc.

So, here's my question. Why do you go to football matches?

Personally, i'm not a technical person when it comes to games. i know a lot of the rules, and i can appreciate a good pass, etc. But being a girlie, we weren't allowed to play football at school and my only learning has come from watching (but i digress). It occured to me, while listening, that i go because i love Watford and i want Watford to win. To me, winning is important, and i'm not really sure i'm bothered how we win. Yes, it's great to see us play well, but if we hoof for 90 minutes and win, i'm not going to complain. The enjoyment for me, the entertainment factor, is the 3 points at the end of the game, and cheering my boys on during it. So i'm curious, what is it for you?

I like the atmosphere at a live game - hardly bother to watch any sport on TV but will go live to almost any sport - would even go to golf and that IS a stretch :)

Winning is very important but so is how. In Aidy's last year I did not enjoy hardly any of the games as I hated the hoofball - I was so pleased when he went as I started enjoying the football again

Ten good reasons for going to football:

    1. Pint of Youngs in the pub
    2. Sausage and onion baguette in the pub
    3. Technical discussion of team selection and tactics in the pub
    4. Another pint of Youngs in the pub
    5. Discussion of best games we've seen at the Vic in the pub
    6. Another pint of Youngs in the pub
    7. Bag of crisps in the pub
    8. Discussion of the best away trips we've ever made...in the pub
    9. Swift half before leaving the pub
    10. Sure I must have left something out...

Different reasons there is an emotional attatchent to the 'orns deep in my genes. But I do non league matches too. Afternoons at Hemel or Leverstock Green are seriously stress busting sessions. Sit or stand where you like - no queue for the tea. Fair proportion of nutters and something amusing usually happens.
you should try it next time the 'orns are away............

I cant really put my finger on the exact reason, but part of it has to be the excitment of seeing the team i love whether we win, loose or draw. There is also the atmosphere and the banter with fans which is a great thing and you dont get it anywhere else. Then there is meeting new people and old friends, it is a great conversation starter even if you have never met the person before. Also it is time i get to spend with my Dad, and i dont get much of it lately.
There truely is nothing like going to a watford match on a saturday, stroling down vicarage road and chanting COYH!!

Also away games are very often a lot more fun, probably because of the atmosphere

Where do you start? - Day out with some fellas that I have been going to games with for over 25 years, drink a load, the nervous energy spent, drink a load, banter with other supporters, drink a load, can get home in time to go out again and drink a load more....
I actually prefer away games as well...

A few pints, the buzz you get going to the match anticipating/hoping for a win and the atmosphere.

Obviously prefer it when Watford win but if they lose but show they care then I can accept that.

Welcome Warrington , The buzz of the atmosphere, the tingle down the spine when our lads come out! I do like to decent football ,even from the opposition ! but obviously prefer it if we are doing good things and winning! I had been away so long it was spiritual moment for me at that qpr game!
