Another text book away performance 3 points in the bag.

Great away support and good atmosphere around the Priory pub and ground until the lunitics started, it has to be said we have our very own meatheads, was clear to see at Cheltenham the middle aged neandifals down at the front swearing spitting and gesticulating at every opportunety, we have all had our moments myself included at the age of 14 into my early 20's but even then it was not a constant aggresive attitude, some of these guys dont even appear to watch the football, but spend the entire game watching the other fans.

As for the Oxford fans, its been awhile since I have seen a group of supporters actively looking to confront other supporters around the ground, I thought the police did a good job to be honest, those of us who appreciate a football match and pre match facilities that were put on by the Priory, pay our taxes to have the police protect us from the sort of nonsence that was threatened yesterday, they did a good job over all.
The only critisism I have for the Priory is why put Cider up for sale at 6% volume and over, too easy to drink and a reputation for turning you into a idiot in the blink of an eye, wouldnt it have been more sensible to have normal beer & cider only?

Some great reaction from the Oxford fans post match Radio Oxford and the forum, sour grapes is an understatement.

We are now a different team confident, well organized with a great work effic, we didnt play much champagne football yesterday, but we did keep to a game plan and got the result required, all the hot air in the universe will not change that fact, I know which camp I would rather be in.

Great to see the manager, players and staff celabrate with the fans, I would love to see a few of the players come into the clubhouse, so if your reading this Mr Brunt come on down and enjoy the adulation of the gas heads, you and the others are rapidily becoming cult heros in the eyes of the fans.

Before you slate what happened yesterday I would like to point out that someone in my party was at the heart of the so called trouble. He is my son-in-law and we go to many games together and have NEVER been involved in acts of aggression towards opposition fans. Last year he made a few friends at the Priory (Oxford fans) and this year he met them and greetings were made etc. Sure he had a few drinks, as he always does, and he was at the heart of the singing etc .... however ... when he went to the toilet an aggressive 45 year oldish Oxford fan grabbed him by the neck/shirt with clear intent to give him a whack. He shouted at the bloke to let go but he didn't so he elbowed the guy off him and it all sort of exploded from there. My son-in-law is an ex-squaddie, a bit boisterous and can be over the top on occasions but as I said he doesn't go looking for violence and is very much a peoples person, but this is the first time in many years that he has ever come close to "aggro" as we used to call it.
So people before you go banging on about Neaderthals and Meatheads, please try and get the facts right! I know there are a few people who still go activly looking for aggro but my son-in-law ain't one of them - or I would disown him!

With respect RG, I was not banging on about any specific person, and my facts were spot on, ok I used emotive terms for describing the people I saw as did many other right infront of our faces at Cheltenham and yesterdays game all based purely on fact? This has also been pointed out by other posters on both forums.

As for your son-in-law I would probably reacted in the same way if threatened with a personal attack of that sort, how did he describe his potential assailant?

as i was on our match thread i was also popping over to the match thread on the OS forum too as people at the game was uploading pics of the game which i was stealing for our match thread <whistle>... i came across a comment that was made before the game saying its kicked off outside the stadium in the priory. without knowing the facts, i put it down to the police causing the issues only because all morning on the OS forum those who were already there in the area was reporting that the police are ready for our fans in riot gear and got batons out ready and were escorting away fans in a different pub and wouldnt let away fans go to the priory even though the landlord of the pub was welcoming away fans to his joint. with a few gasheads who may have been drinking and over zealous police i just put 2 and 2 together and thought that may have been the problem. not actually seen anything since about what actually happened apart from the comments above.

1 thing is for sure, all clubs have a small group of idiotic fans.

fair shout to rhinestones son in law sticking up for himself. unfortunately there were a small group of rovers fans looking for trouble who solongsoblue seen and as it kicked off in the priory due to the incident involving rhinestones son in law, the idiotic fans looking for trouble jumped in on the bandwagon glad that trouble had started. thats how im reading things from solongsoblue and rhinestones comments. as i wasnt there im only guessing.

lets not let the trouble makers get air time which is what they want <ok>

rhinestone, hope your son in law is ok?

Thanks guys - he's fine - this guy was looking for trouble and grabbed Rab by the shirt from sideways behind (if that makes sense) - he said he shouted to at him to let go and then just gave him the elbow. After that the Police all dived in and he was dragged out by fellows gasheads - he's fine, tho he thinks the Oxford fan might be regretting it!

its a bug that they are working on. basically if someone posts a comment while your typing a comment then when you post that comment it turns into a double post. example, solongsoblue made the thread, rhinestone replied and there was no other comments. i typed in my comment but before i sent mine solongsoblue posted another comment so when i posted my comment it ended up being a double post. so busy threads will happen. must have happened 60 odd times yesterday during the matchday thread. doing my head in. instead of leaving it i just edit with a new comment.

Taken from the Oxford Mail

Police claim success with only three arrests at Oxford United-Bristol Rovers game.

THREE people were arrested at yesterday's highly-charged match between Oxford United and Bristol Rovers.

There was a heavy police presence at both the Kassam Stadium and Oxford train station for the visit of Bristol Rovers for the League Two clash.

Police said their operation was successful, although there were several incidents between rival fans in the area immediately surrounding the Kassam just before kick-off.

Police said one man from Bristol and two men from Oxford were arrested. However they have supplied no details on what grounds or if the men were subsequently charged with any offences.

“It is a shame that a few people today thought it would be ok to attend and try to disrupt the enjoyment of others. We will now be carrying out a post-match investigation to establish the full circumstances.

The police presence included several officers on horseback and at the end of the game there were massed ranks of officers at either end of the north stand, where away fans were, to prevent clashes.

Estimates on the number of Rovers fans vary between 1,400 and 2,000.

Superintendent Christian Bunt, the Oxford police commander who was leading the policing operation, said last night: “Today’s football match involved a substantial policing operation to ensure it ran smoothly and safely.

“It is a shame that a few people today thought it would be ok to attend and try to disrupt the enjoyment of others. We will now be carrying out a post-match investigation to establish the full circumstances.

“We have been working closely with the club staff, to plan for today and deal with any potential troublemakers so that it was a safe environment for everybody to support their teams and enjoy the match.”

I think that's how it should read, copy paste doesn't always work for me, my bad
