The whole system of clubs bringing in players on loan seems strange these days. During the January transfer window many clubs at all levels have taken them on, presumably because they don't have the money to buy them outright, or they would rather see just what they will get for their cash if they decide to buy them later. As soon as the transfer window closed, the emergency loan window opened. It seems that there is little difference between January's and February's signings if you listen to what some managers have been saying. How can it be an emergency when a manager says he will wait until the next month before signing someone? I even noticed one putting off signing a player for a week so that he could be available for the play offs if the team made them.

I think that we would be better off without specified times when players could move, or say that they only move once a season has finished. I would also like to see managers protected against removal from their jobs after a few weeks. Let the owners be stuck with their judgement for a whole season and rise or fall on who they choose to appoint. Of course it will not work as a manager will be sent on gardening leave and a temporary coach put in charge. Whatever could happen it probably won't. The existing system will be amended, then the amendments will be amended and the whole strange system will ramble on.

There was a bit the day afterwards but generally people know clubs buy from abroad because the players are better value and more professional than british players (youngsters) and so clubs are prepared to take more of a risk.

Ofcourse you get some bad ones but its not a case now of overseas players coming over here hoping for a final pay day and moaning about the locals...

Good post Hornette and I watched the match on TV last night and thought that Holloway's comments was bordering being well out of order and Bolton has it completely right, it's the green eyed monster!

That was a great read. Im actually concerned that even some of our own supporters are being sucked in and think that what we did was cheating. They seem to care more about what they read in the red tops or daily fail than anything else.

Tweet and Facebook it to all and sundry! ;)

I just tweeted it to Crystal Palace - doubt it will be read though.

Also, aren't all the players we've loaned out to League clubs with the exception of Iwelumo and Beleck ones that have come through our youth system and played for the first team? In the case of Lee Hodson he also has full international caps.

One thing that was missed in that good article is that Almunia qualifies to play for England through residency rules.

...or maybe it is the recurring 'leave this page' problem? If that's the message you get when you hit 'post', leave the page but don't click post on the next page - just go back to the forum page.

Have tried that before but can't find their twitter address - sent it to Football League Show though - their concentration on Holloway's ramblings last night was a disgrace.

Quite agree BB, even Mme wanted to know if that bloke has much between his ears. How could he have prepared his side if he didn't know about our players? He claimed that he didn't know about them until he looked at the programme.

I think its all down to people thinking due to our previous record of bringing through good talent that for whatever reason we are stopping the progress of the next Ashley Young or even John Barnes. Plus we gave youngsters from Premiership clubs a chance to perform and gain experience (which I remember people moaned about as well..)

Because in reality the clubs/FA need to rely on lower league clubs to have some english based players because the Premiership teams in the main won't...

Bale/Walcott came from Southampton and wasn't Wilshere at Luton for a whille...

Even Man u who do have a good youth set up have brought most of their young players in their squad like Smalling/Jones and ofcourse Rooney!

Point they are missing is that it's the cash in The Prem that is driving this - when Newcastle can go shopping in France and pick up a pile of players and very few French clubs can compete with the wages being offered and nothing is said. Average English players are being pushed further down the leagues and adding competition for a limited number of playing spaces - just look at the number of ex Watford players playing for FGR yesterday!

What I don't understand is why the hacks don't challenge dick brains like Holloway to explain what they mean and throw a few facts back at them to confront their bullshit.

Which is complete bullshit. If he was anything like a competent manager, he would have known about it when he did his match preparation.

Yeah, my Dad and I were talking so someone and he said that he agreed with Holloway and had said so to him. He then tried to tell us it was cheating.
