http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bris...tory-18100952-detail/story.html#axzz2KUbUskJE Just read this and now even more impressed with Marv. This interview is pure dedication and captain material. Top bloke and a top player, Getting back into form and we'll see the best of him just at the right time. Watching his celebration you could see how much it meant to him and its obvious he loves this club. Even when he had to go off when he was bleeding you could see how badly he wanted to get back on and play. Plus the whole Mexico vs Jamaica thing makes it even more impressive. Bristol City FC ‏@bcfctweets SO'D: "Marvin Elliott is so laid back. We asked him about his fitness, he looked at us as if we were speaking in a foreign language." Hope you have a relaxing day today Marv. You deserve it.
Bambie on ice Or Bendy Wendy as someone behind me calls him But played ok yesterday, scored the goal that counts but still frightens me with his heading straight up in the air like school boys in primary schools
Were any of you actually at the game? He was shocking! he scored a good goal and I thank him for that, but first half he needlessly gave the ball away several times, he headed the ball back in to our area once and put us under pressure, He looked like he was struggling for fitness to me and his first touch was awful. I would take him over Kilkenny all day long though.. The whole side (and crowd) grew in confidence as the game wore on, we looked very shaky for the first 15 minutes and if Forest had scored early that result could have been very different. I was initially feeling we were gonna get destroyed with that central two at the back but I have to say they grew in confidence and threw their bodies on the line and started to look like real central defenders with a bit of steely determination. Its still a weak spot in the side (both CB'S AND central MF) and still needs to be addressed, on past evidence they will soon tire of this new manager and revert to '****in awful' again before to long.
I won't tire of our new manager....at last we have someone who knows how to put a TEAM together.....He knows what he's doing!!
"I won't tire of our new manager....at last we have someone who knows how to put a TEAM together.....He knows what he's doing" Is that so! I Wonder how many Peterborough fans said that until they got relegated... I have and always will support ALL City managers, we all go our separate ways eventually though..
He is paid to do a job and at the moment he is doing a superb one, he is not a super hero, not yet...I support Bristol City FC and it's management but I'm not getting carried away this time, I must admit the signs are good though..
It was Marv's 200th start for our club - a good servant His fitness is getting there - the more games he gets under his belt the better he will get He was running on empty at the end of the game - top effort after palying at 2.30am Thursday morning and flying back from Mexico
Yes Wiz, so far so good. I'm happy with what I have seen so far, whether the players are playing for the new manager or themselves, their the ones that got us into this mess and whilst doing so shafted Bristol City FC. The core of this side has needed renewing for a long time now and still does!
Marv made a few mistakes yes but so does everybody but he tries to get it back instantly and he did quite a few times yesterday. We need people like him in the middle and which is why he is better than skuse. He might make more mistakes but he tries harder and puts himself out there more. All skuse does is 2 or 3 good tackles other than that he offers nothing defensively or attacking, Not good in the air and he's not creative. Elliott is our best CM regardless of what most say.
If he is our best midfielder we are getting relegated! Forest midfield was awful yesterday we wont keep getting away with MF performances like that. I hope he does get fit and better, but I cant help feeling we've been here before. In fact lately its like one long groundhog day all around me where everyone has forgotten everything from before January...
Hmm Shiny, I wasn't including wide players in the equation!!!! I would still take Skuse from that list before Elliot and also Kelly from what I have seen so far...
A good midfielder shouldn't have to correct his own mistakes. Said it before and say it again he is a disaster waiting to happen and his head is the shape of a 50p. Kelly is better which is a blessing just need another one. Skuse is marginally better than captain disaster. Our best defensive midfielder in recent times was allowed to leave the club Cisse, and guess what no one else wanted him now that says something about our midfield As to yesterday he scored but that miss from the edge of the box was hilarious. In the words of The Guv Lennie McLean in Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels "e's a faucking liability"
