The first edition of the new Voice of The Valley will be on sale at today's game. You can also order online.Great to see this Fanzine return after eleven years away. Shall I pick you up a copy Typical?
Bought a copy but not yet read properly. Looks very well produced. Some of the views may be a touch partial but that's to be expected and no bad thing. It is after all a fanzine and not a programme. Fair play to all those who have worked to produce it.
A political arse wipe. I suppose I could use a few copies as I got the kids a puppy at Xmas and its not house trained.
Bought a copy today out of nostalgia and a deep affection for what the fanzine once stood for (I still have 60 or so at home) and also because I wanted to read an independent appreciation of Colin Cameron's life and work. This is the last one I'll be buying. It's like watching a very bad remake of a classic film and to call it 'Voice of the Valley' is a complete travesty. Calling it 'The Thoughts of Chairman Rick' would have been a bloody sight more honest and accurate.
I've now read it through and have to say that it is a little disappointing. Well produced but low on new facts and clearly written with an agenda. It didn't give me a warm feeling of belonging. I'm left with the abiding messages that my season ticket is going up, my club is in the brown stuff if we don't get to the premier league sometime soon and Colin Cameron was a saint. The first two may well be true and the third certainly is but I kinda knew all that already. I don't know Airman Brown or anything about the circumstances of his departure (and I have no interest) but the timing of this production seems just a little coincidental. Had it appeared this time last year it's contents would be more interesting.
Grossly unfair just to call it the thoughts of Chairman Rick. There were good articles in there by Richard Hunt.Peter Varney,Ben Hayes etc.I found it very well written and it is not just for posters of Charlton Life it is for all Charlton fans who want to read a different slant on the Club, from the official one.
A different slant? Do you mean absolute bollocks? Votv is a collection of irrational and bitter rantings of a idiot. Pretty much like mein kampf, the authors motivation is hate and jealousy, a egotist in a cardigan and Dunlop trainers. Stay away from this steaming turd of a publication. Typical. We must get out of the habit of thinking that CL and Mr Everitt are synonymous.... they are not.... he has his supporters and he has his detractors over there. I have no interest in Rick's thoughts so I did not buy a copy.... I bought more jackpot tickets instead which I think is a much better cause.
Your card is marked Tweakes I believe Steve Waggot's salary was discussed. What's the big debate for the next edition - Parky in or out?
How can you give a critique of it Typical when you haven't even read it?There are articles in there from Richard Hunt,Peter Cordwell,Peter Varney,Ben Hayes,Kevin Nolan as well as Rick Everitt. You do like a bit of hyperbole, your hatred of Rick Everitt stops you giving a rational view of anything connected to Rick Everitt,ie Charlton life,Voice of the Valley etc.You mention the bitter rantings of an idiot.Might I suggest that applies to you as well.
It has been for a long time, IA - three unsuccessful applications to join so far - it'd be easier to get into The Masons. Howdy stranger? More like b*gger off.
There is a Tewkesbury addick on CL. Doppelgänger? Seems like an odd name to use unless you live in Tewkesbury. Wonder how many of our small band here also post there? I assume "Eltham Addick is the chap who used to be on 606? There is also an Eddie Firmani though not sure it's the real thing like we have on here.
Charlton Life. That's the website greeting, not an enquiry as to your state of health. And that's what it should read...
Charlton Live is a non event as far as I'm concerned have no interest in it at all. Didn't buy VOTV and won't be end of.
