Why have we stopped playing football? Is it simply the loss of Aluko? I mean Simpson looked quite good early on in the season especially his link up play but he was absolutely awful today, one of the worse football performances I have seen in years I don't think he managed to string together two touches in the whole game, everytime it went near him he lost it. Why are we starting with Korren and Simpson up front? We have Elmo and Brady playing plenty of nice balls into the box but these two aren't going to get on the end of them are they? Why are we taking Korren off ever? It's not the first time this season? are fitness issues creeping in? Seems like we are loosing out way a bit, I hope that the reintroduction on Aluko can turn things round. We haven't played the lovely football we saw earlier on for a while now. Every time we have a chance to do something this season we bottle it, we should have picked up a point today, one goal would have been enough to see to that. Even against Millwall it took a mistake it's begining to become a real concern.
Its clear to a blindmen that Jay isn't going to score so why the f*** he always plays. Prosh must feel like **** seing this every week.
absolutely spot on this post. no fluidity, no pace, no getting to the 2nd ball, no crisp passing. quinn, meyler and evans had ZERO creativity and positivity today.
fact of the matter is this is exactly the reason we didn't challenge for the playoffs two seasons ago, What can you do?
Of course that'd help and of course we are trying to do that, but how can you say that it's as simple as that? How many chances did we create for our current strikers today? It's not as if they keep getting put through on goal and missing. The only real chances we get regularly are from Elmohamady's frankly superb crosses. So it'd have to be a striker who is a great aerial presence and can score goals regularly. Oh, and someone has to be willing to let us have them.
I think taking Koren off was the wrong decision, as he was starting to finally see some of the ball. Proschwitz and Gedo barely touched the ball, so didn't exactly add much. I think the most telling thing is our shots on/off target count. Total Shots: 16 On Target: 3 Off Target: 13
When the changes were made I honestly thought Koren would have been dropped into midfield to add some creativity. I would have replaced Quinn and left Koren on but dropped him into more of a link up role.
we all know the margin between losing and winning is very close and having someone like Aluko could make the difference, if we had won or got a draw we would have all been on here saying what a good result against a decent team. Its so frustrating because tonight we were as good as them and there goal was a foul but it could have gone either way. How many chances did they have? a draw would have been a fair result, We all know we need a goalscorer, the manager included but getting one dosn't seem to be easy, its a real shame but lets hope we get one in on loan soon. Has for tonights result i am gutted really gutted but the others lost and now is the time to get our home form and support right because 3 games on the trot is a good opportunity to really put some points on the board and at the same time pressure the other teams around us so my message is forget today its gone look to the next three support the team and its a must to get this HOME FORM RIGHT
thought we played well in the second half and deserved at least a draw ! But yes Simpson was poor. Good Strikers are hard to come by though !
I'd like to see: Stockdale Chester Hobbs McShane Elmo Koren Meyler Quinn Brady Gedo Proschwitz start the next game.
We've done bloody well this season in terms of winning games and Bruce knows we are papering over the cracks with no Aluko or Fyatt to get you goals. He would have settled for a draw the longer the game went on so looking on the positive we only lost a point and were in any event helped by Lesta losing at Peterboro and Boro at home to Barnsley. Are there any strikers out there available in the emergency loan period - probably not - can Gedo hit the ground running and get us goals lets hope so.
Lots of overreaction as usual on this thread, not read any other ones today, we lost 1-0 v a very good team and there are issues with the strikers and maybe the formation, I thought Meyler/Quinn and Elmo were decent and Koren was unlucky not to score despite being played out of position. Another day we would have got a decent point away. Simpson needs to be benched I agree with that, looks short of confidence. Things aren't as bleak as some like to imagine though are they.
Simpson is a very good player. He was very dangerous with Aluko. Try him with Gedo and Koren in midfield?
When Bruce was injured I thought it would have been better to bring Proschwitz (or Gedo) on rather than Evans and put Koren into the midfield. Brighton isn't the type of game where you need a combative player in the middle IMO.
I thought we played well and were unlucky not to score but I was surprised Gedo came on especially after listening to Bruce's comments after the game. He said neither of them had played a game for around a year apart from an international. Also considering how long it might take them to adapt to the Championship are they going to make any impact this season. Where other clubs interested or is it just the Allam link that got them here. Would they have: been the Managers first choice or would he rather have had one or two players "ready to go". If things go pear shaped will Bruce go having fallen out with the Allams. I am stil hoping we will stay in the top six but would prefer second. Before I get slated for this post it was only Bruce's after match interview that got me thinking this way. I know everyone has said Gedo is brilliant but we need him to be brilliant pretty quickly and Bruce didn't seem that confident.
