Hopefully the doubters were watching today, the man was pure world class today. Yes, he's been going through a small bad patch, but as the saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent.

Oh as for Shezza and when's the last time he won us a game, ;-), there you go.

Yeah. I knew Sagan would come out of his bad patch and what a way to do it. Chez was excellent today.

Waiting for Kyle's report on the "Sagna issue"... lol

Fact is even when he wasn't on great form recently he was merely average, not bad.

It might even be worth venturing on Jayrag's site to see how he responds to this. Tbf, Kyle said Sagna was brilliant in the Match Thread.

Wow. Ramsey poor? No way. He played like a soldier today. A few miscues, but more than a few important tackles and several opportunities on goal. And Giroud by the goals he cleared on defense more than made up for the goals he miscued on offense.

I remember reading an interview where Pete Townsend said that after a while people expected him to fly into a tirade and smash up instruments on stage. He went on to say what was once originally a genuine act of angst from him turned into just an act. I wonder if Jayram has turned from a genuine critic to a cynical actor...

*sorry I edit my posts so much. Can't help it: I'm a university teacher (God help us all).

Jayram is so entrenched in his negativity that he's not even aware that he is his own parody.

You guys are a bit obsessed with Jayram though, no? We'd have forgotten about them long ago if you (especially the mods) didn't bring them up constantly.

This has been like the first mention of him in months.

it's kind of inconsequential whether they are forgotten or not, I'm just highlighting one of the extreme views in the strata of Arsenal support. It's always struck me as quite staggering how much difference in opinion there can be between fans of the same club who want the same outcomes.

(especially the mods)? You can exclude me from that, thanks. I rarely if ever mention them.

Yes, I have been critical of Sagna lately, but today I would say he was man of the match.

But I think this shows that ALL players go through rough spells and that is why we have to support them through thick and thin. Thought Ramsey played well at right back as well, almost better than Jenkinson.

Only major gripe I've had about Sagna is his rubbish crossing. It's a joke the way he never seems to be able to get his crosses beyond the defending full back. Must something about his body language that allows the full-backs to guess the flight of teh ball and to block it.

True, it's not his prime function, but not mastering this basic (for top-class footballer) skill impacts our attacking options.

Ramsey is too slow to release the ball and all too often dispossessed. Of course he will have the odd half decent moment or two, but he is still of the Djourou calibre (maybe worse?) imo.

That said, I hope he eventually goes on loan and comes back an improved player and makes me eat my words.

For me Ramsey was hot and cold yesterday, had some good moments, but had some bad moments, badly gave the ball away a few times, and lost it once which almost led to a Sunderland goal.

I agree. I think the loss of Jack affected his, and everyone else's, game as Arsenal panicked a bit. But he did reasonably well and then Wes very solid as a makeshift RB.
