Yep, we'll be effectively seven points off the relegation line, and the most difficult stretch of our season is largely in the books. Like our chances.

Amazing result!, what a win I put 3-1 but did it to City. Our passing and pressing of the opposition are both class. Only shame is Lambert didn't score that would have been the iceing on the cake!.

    Southampton 3-1 Manchester City.

    And without:

    Fonte
    Forren (still not played)
    Shaw
    Gaston
    Do Prado
    Lallana (for the first half)

    Love it!

Cost of Southampton's starting eleven: £19.3m

Cost of Manchester City's starting eleven: £199.5m

    Results like this: Priceless

Rodriguez's ball control is amazing, what a difference him having confidence makes.

in my fantasy league this week i put southampton to win 3-2 and haha we did one up on that :D What an amazing game. One of my mates who has never seen southampton play and doesn't know what position in the table we are, he asked if we were 4th or 5th in the table after that game :D

No, no, they can win. It doesn't matter. WHU will be under the cosh tomorrow, and I want to give a few WHU supporters the question:

Would you like some of what were having..? :)

One of the easier games to watch lately, Saints looked so comfortable in posession. We pretty much cruised the second half; kept the pressure off by pressing them high up the pitch and always looking for the attacking passes.

We deserved this, not just for today, but for all those other good performances where we couldn't quite manage it. I have felt for a while that we can beat anyone on our day...we even gave the league leaders a run for their money. We are mid table in quality...just want safety with games to spare this season and next season should be interesting.

I completely agree with this. Such a nice change from the way we used to take the lead and spend the last 20-30 minutes of the game sitting back and trying to absorb the pressure we were inviting onto ourselves.

Todays result was coming with the way we have been playing and we should be at least 4 points better off. City looked tired but you can only play against the opposition as they present themselves. Every Saint player did a shift today, and once I saw Silva come off I was confident we would win.
    Well done Saints.
Well done the supporters at the game.

Remarkable how much more confident they are; with five minutes remaining, they were just comfortably stroking the ball around, with City totally unable to threaten them. Been saying all season that we don't look like a team in a relegation scrap, well...today was the first time where we truly looked like a squad that expects to be here come next season.

Very impressed with your performance today, even without the bias of you doing us a favour in the title race i'm genuinely pleased for you, because you deserved better against us and a like a team that passes well. Excellent timing on finally getting the result you've been threatening to <ok>

Typical BBC. Saints didn't win it, City lost it with a dreadful defensive display. We never get the credit.

What I love is the fact that we have now made some of the top teams look ordinary - Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, Everton and now Man City. We have indeed become a class act. No doubt in my mind we are staying in the PL and the future looks a very rosy red.
