Got bored years ago, since journalists aim for the masses to keep their jobs alive the readers can choke on it for all I care.

Look it's your typical media BS spin to keep the bad thoughts of possible "Seb world domination" out of the equation. Their job is to get as many people as possible to watch it or they will lose their jobs and the BBC would drop F1 entirely. They don't want a return to the Schumacher days since over here that would kill the sport, so now they need to keep downplaying whatever IRBR and Seb get up to.

Of course he says the Hard is 0.4 faster than the soft tyre, (typical Benson BS to keep you believing it was a nothing to worry about) If that was really the case then why didn't the rest of the grid use the hard tyre for qualifying times rather than stick with the softs that are funnily enough even less durable than the mediums? Where did he get these numbers from? It seems he is making it up as he goes, he doesn't take any reference from Pirelli or anything backing this up, he's quoting himself.

7/10 of the top times were set with the soft tyre, 2 with the hard 1 with the medium. So where did he get these sources that the hard was better than the medium by so much when Seb and Jenson were the only 2 to use them to a decent time?

Edit: All I care about is what Pirelli tell me (S >0.5 M >0.5 H) if the cars can't do better with them then maybe the car is the problem and not the tyre. As Webber said last year, "It doesn't matter how fast your car is if the black wheels around you don't work you're toast."

Yeah, like an engineer would give out such information to a journalist. And to Benson of all people <doh>

Christ someday I'll win the Euromillions, kidnap H.Marko, Benson, D.Hill and Paul Di Resta and stick them on an island and name it hell!

I genuinely think there's a gap in the market for proper, in depth F1 analysis journalism. Scarbs covers the techie side of things, but I've not really seen anyone dive into the numbers involved, and do some proper analysis of them. Like in testing, we know roughly the fuel consumption of an F1 car, so by monitoring stint lengths, times, tyres, etc, it should be possible to figure out exactly what performance each car has. I'm yet to see anyone do it properly, but it would simply take the time to put a really decent spreadsheet together. I don't have the time now, but I bet with a free weekends tinkering, you could get to the point where you import the raw lap data and it gives an optimal lap time per driver.

Oh, and with the insult war:

Way too much analysis. I think all we can genuinely conclude is that none of the top teams has turned up with an absolute dog.

That's why it's for week 1 of testing, the view will likely change at Barcelona.

"According to Gazzetta, Vettel made his best time with hard and about 60 Kg of fuel, Massa with soft and low."

Think it's BS though, no way would IRBR and Ferrari reveal fuel levels to the media.

Also reports saying Jenson cut the Senna corner when he set that fast lap on the hards.

Bullshite.... Not you Silver but those "reporting" it..
From the pictures I saw, that corner was coned off, so very much doubt that he'd have cut the corner and if he did cut it, doubt he'd have gained any time..
Agree, first week is to bed in the new car, doubt any of the teams will show their true pace until the last day of the final test, most likely to see the front runners come the first FP in Melbourne.

He wouldn't have gained a massive amount of time but I think he would have gained something:

Button himself admitted he cut the corner:

    Interesting body language: http://www1.skysports.com/formula1/video/27452/8482668

Lewis seemed pretty well relaxed, scratches his face once with regards to the new package coming up in the next couple of races, which is a sign of him calming himself down and a bit of anxiety. So it's not over for Mercedes at least with finishing the car off, looks like there is still plenty to be found to get them further up the front.

Seb a bit annoyed with the progress of the car slight shrug of the shoulders probably knows it's still early days for them compared with other front teams like McLaren. Folds his arms which is a defensive stance, very likely because of the RB9 being in very early development (though it could just be because he is cold). Seb also has a small fake laugh with the subject of the car again which is meant to be insecurity. Maybe he felt (so far) the RB9 has only made a small step in his eyes and is worried how big the others were. He lies when he says he doesn't care about the other cars as he rubs his nose and covers his mouth which is a sign of deceit and irritation, so Seb has probably seen a car(s) he is worried about.
Looked really pissed off and irritated of the hole in the track as he scratches his ear and moves his hat so he is lying when he meant they did a good job.
Seemed more relaxed with Barcelona testing coming up, probably the time IRBR start to reveal their hand by then as IRBR are usually slower than McLaren and Ferrari to introduce radical designs on their car.

Allison looked pretty relaxed, slight bit of anxiety of the minimal laps of the day before with Kimi. Few shoulder shrugs of uncertainty probably for him it's the same old same old situations with testing. Seemed quite happy with the testing in general.

Esteban quite elated to be there, probably because he knows he is now in F1 full time, nothing much else really to say. Seems to show signs of anxiety and nervousness with regards to his ability though, still not comfortable being in a F1 car it looks.

JEV with mixed feelings, few signs of anxiety with his future in F1 of the lick liping. Few shoulder shrugs in general of I don't know about testing performance in general against the others. Seemed pretty relaxed that he would keep improving as a driver though.

Bottas with a bit of a mixture with Seb and Lewis, slight worry for the delay of the new car but happy with the data collected to a degree with the new tyres. Seemed more focused on getting more laps under his belt rather than car performance in general.

Kimi with a few shoulder shrugs of the day, no sign of worry or anger but he rarely keeps eye contact with the reporter which is a sign of boredom <laugh>. Looks certain the car is a strong as last year. Small bit of anxiety with regards of the car doing well at Jerez, maybe because Barcelona is a track far more suited for F1 than Jerez.

#F1 I heard Red Bull has booked #Jerez circuit on saturday for a film day. Curious how the RB9 looks like then.
