Not played on paper though is it? The way to play the Swans is press press press. Give our midfield time on the ball and you'll pay. The teams that have done the best against us (eg: Everton) worked their asses off for 90 minutes and didn't allow us time to play. Everton remain the only team that have completely outplayed us this season but you don't need to do that, just nick it 0-1. Michu due a goal and I'm going 2-0 Swans. Safe travels to those making the journey.
Your formation "rotatates anti clockwise as and when required"! I'll have some of what you're on, DT...
This assuming Remy's unfit and Zamora can't play 90 mins. 4-5-1, sort of Cesar Onounha-Samba-Hill-Traore Fabio-Mbia-Granero-Jenas-Townsend Taarabt
That's the cm I'd have if we play 451. We don't need someone to sit permanently in front of the back four if the three cm are more mobile.
I think he will to but it doesn't mean its the correct decision. Mbia could sit and offer so much more going forward if needed.
Mbia doesn't stay in position. Derry stays put and protects the back 4. Could maybe do without him for some of the games after Utd.
he stays put which means he has zero attacking threat. If mbia goes forward, another player sits in for him, we can do that with two other cms.
Hasn't happened all season when Derry hasn't played though. If we're too attacking tomorrow we'll get spanked!
I don't think we've played a three man cm without derry so we can be sure if its the formation or the player that helps. I'm pretty sure its the formation. Playing a 451 without Derry is not attacking, its just not ultra negative playing for a 0 0 like wed do if we started Derry in a 451. I'd love to know how many goals we've scored with Derry in a 451, my guess is not a lot and were getting to a point where draws are just about the same as a loss.
We have to win, 0-0s arent going to keep us up, Im surprised anyone would name a team that is set up to get a draw.
We must have a lot of mobility up front to prevent their CB from dictating the play. Defensively pace will be key and preventing two against one on our fullbacks. Imo the team pretty much picks itself on current form, with one or two exceptions considering the workrate required against a very well playing Swans side. ------------------------Cesar------------------------ Onouha---------Samba-----------Hill-----------Traore ----------------Derry------------Mbia---------------- Townsend-------------Taarabt-------------------SWP -----------------------Mackie------------------------ With Remy doubtfull and not risked, Jenas, Hoilett and Zamora not fit enough to start I'd go with this and imo we'll have a decent chance. Still doesn't see where our goals will come from so I'll stand by my prediction, 2-0 home win.
This isn't Rodgers tippy tappy team! or have you forgotten August's game?? The days of you giving us a hiding are long gone, but we'll not under estimate you, as it's clear that Harry has started to organise you, and your starting to look like a team again, and like I have said on here before, I see it looking like a draw, but I hope we can win it, Michu is looking hungry for goals again, but yet I would not rule out you getting a win, but giving us a hiding? Not even Everton at their place could do that this season, though they thumped us under Rodgers last season! I'm confident, there will be no hiding from you boys!.............
Derry's done reasonably well recently, but the fact of the matter is that we have to win. This was underlined against Norwich and the disastrous decision to play both Mbia and Derry from the start. I would be happy to replace Mbia with Derry against the Swans - though Mbia has a bit more pace which we're lacking on occasion.
