Many of us regularly bang on about Q.P.R. being a special club. Does this actually have any real founding, or are we just typical supporters believing that our club is better than all others? I have many examples of why I think we are special, one is especially poignant today. On February 8th 2010 Harold Winton died. Should anyone be unaware of the legend of this incredible man, he, along with his sons Matt and Alex funded the signings of several players, including Danny ****tu and Marc Bircham. This is, of course, just part of what he did for our club, but the most celebrated. As a tribute to Harold, I’d like to know your reasons for regarding Q.P.R. as special.
The traditional style of football and the distinctive blue and white hoops. Plus the name. I've always loved the name of our Club.
QPR and Loftus Rd was like a home away from home for several of my dads family through the fifties and sixties. I simply was not allowed to support anybody else.
For being able to meet another R on the other side of the world, who you dont know from Adam, yet it seems like he's like your brother at the sound of those immortal words, You R'ssssss. Priceless.

Definitely the blue and white hoops, my first kit was the old blue and white hoops with white shorts and white socks, I always stood from the rest every Sunday morning down the little scrubs. Magic! Oh yeh we're special cos we're not Chelsea as well.
My first thought was - QPR is special to us just as other clubs are special to other people, but then I thought about all the other football fans I know and I honestly cant think of any that feel for their club what I and you guys feel for QPR. There really is something special. Maybe it's the size of the club that's important. We are big enough to play in the upper reaches of English football, but small enough to feel we each play an important role. QPR is the vehicle which has driven my relationship with my dad. It has been the thing we've shared for the last 26/27 years. Very important to me - so much more than football.
All of the above & more. The fact I was the only kid at school that followed QPR & not the scum or Arsenal. What other team could have the likes of Stan as a hero? I've always thought we've walked a fine line between achieving something great and total oblivion.
Great question Roller. I think part of it, for me is being a bit of an outsider... not following the obvious or the glory.. just little old us. I would be bored stupid supporting Man Utd or Chelsea...If my head expected a win every week (a bit of my heart always does!) then THAT FEELING would be gone. Latest example? Our 1-0 win over Chelsea - what a feeling!!! No Chelsea fan can feel like that after a 1-0 win. That's one reason - hard to articulate though - which is why I end my tuppence worth with UURRRSSS!!!!
Great question. For me its the family style atmosphere that qpr fans have between eachother. Shouting you r'ss as random people in the street who are wearing qpr shirts etc..And also i think i am right in saying we have one of the biggest group of message boards than any other club? Again, that helps with the togetherness.
40 years of investing my time, cash and dreams. Too late to give up now. Pretty sure I would feel the same if I had been dealt a different hand and supported another club - they all have their unsung heroes, dark stories and moments of (relative) glory. Have to say though lads, its great to see your team packed with great players and winning things. 4 years as a season ticket holder at AC Milan, Maldini, Van Basten, Gullit Rijkaard, Baresi, scudetto, 2 European Cup wins - loved it. They never replaced the Rs, but man it was good. Despite the current gloom, I think that we are closer now than than ever to building something great. Never settle for survival, always believe its possible. Think of the Championship win and magnify the feeling as far as you can. That's what we're here for. Don't think that answers the question though Roller.
We're a rogue (and I mean that in a most positive way) club who has always had characters and entertainers around. Playing entertaing football (whenever in the top flight). Most of all though the feeling you get when you see another R, indescribable!
I'm surprised nobody has said it yet, but probably the fact you've had proper bad times as well. Going through the proper **** where you're facing extinction brings the fans together more, and where there's some sort of action to help the club survive makes fans feel more a part of it, so you can feel a real contribution towards it. I know when we had our first promotion it felt better than the one the year after, because that first one brought back the memories of things like being down at our old ground shovelling snow off the pitch, and cleaning the ground up after we'd been locked out in preseason one year, and it was like we'd helped get the club there. I just don't think you'd get that same sense of involvement with things if you were a Liverpool fan and they qualified for the Champions League next season, because your idea of bad times would be only qualifying for the Europa League instead of the Champions League for a few years.
We also have to be one of the most crazy clubs to support...its never boring and theres always drama! We cant even get promoted wihtout nearly F'in it up!
