Good history, good read but does not instil much confidence in me about staying up, can't blame SOD for that....:emoticon-0100-smile

No Wize but it does give confidence for the future I still think we have a chance of staying up as he has got us on the right track 2 wins from 4 another win and a draw from our next 3 games and we will be better placed than any of us would have thought likely just before Christmas.

I don't think we will stay up and that's nothing to do with sod, I have a lot of confidence in him that if we do get relegated we will enjoy league 1 with maybe a top 6 finish

whilst sod gives me cause for optimism in the future, i do have a nagging doubt, about the nature of his contract. 1 year rollover, just how does that work ?

excellent piece,SOD as said in the past is very highly thought of in the football world.

I am sure he will give it his all keeping us up,but if we do go down,he is the man to bring us up.

In SOD i have every faith we have the right manager and top coach.

I like his philosophy and outlook.

We may well go down this season, but I'd rather have SOD at the helm if we're in L1 next year than anyone else as I believe under him we'd stand a better than average chance of going straight back up.

The only thing im worried about, If we do go down. Nearly all of our fans think we will come straight back up. Yes Leicester, Norwich, Southampton etc have all done very well since being relegated to league 1 but who's to say we are part of that group, Who's to say we're not part of the Colchester, Preston and Scunthorpe group.......... but like I said. I do have confidence that he would do well in league 1, Don't think we will tear the league up though saying all of that though league 1 looks incredibly weak compared to recent years. Sheff Utd will be promoted and other than them the whole league looks weak and we should be a pretty big fish in a small pond just like Bolton and Blackburn are in our league :(

I want to be as enthusiastic as you guy's but I had complete faith in GJ and his time ran out, happy as a pig in **** when we got Coppell and he ran out, Millen I never wanted and he turned out crap, Delboy I thought was the business and he had to go, now we've got SOD, I'm afraid I agree with what Rp said the other day.....I support Bristol City FC , the club 100% all the way, today and everyday....

SOD will have to prove himself....

Wiz out of interest do you still think Del was the business, and do you think he should still be here.or do you think it was the right decision that he has gone.

At anytime he is supposed to give 12 months notice and the club have to give him 12 Months notice so the contract never runs out automatically renews at the end of each 12 month period

Wize will answer for himself but here's my take on it. Yes I did think he was going to do the business as you put it, from the time I heard his name first mentioned for the job. And I still thought so up to about early to mid December.
But then the doubts started to filter through the old brainbox, things at the start like why bring in Anderson and not play him, why keep going with Fontaine.
And then so many things did not stack up; why drop Heaton for one game and then drop Gerken immediately, why leave out both Davies and Baldock when at least one should always be playing if fit and available, why bring in Jody Morris and Mark Wilson and so on.
Yes he did some good things with the Academy and under 21's, or would this have happened even without him because finally the penny had dropped with the board about where we need to go with developing our own younger players mainly due to FFP, but also to get some loyalty and passion for the club into the playing staff.
But, once the doubts began, I soon realised that he would not last long and while publicly I continued to support our manager, I did actually want him gone before Christmas. Another waste of 18 months for the club just like Millen twice and Coppell.
So this time, like Wizered appears to be doing, I'll keep my own counsel on Sean O'Driscoll as our manager and see what happens. Long term he may be very good for the club, but in the short term he has gotten himself a right bag of nails and I doubt even SAF, Wenger or anyone else could save us from the drop. For me it will be how we recover next season - will it be another 10 years in League One or a bouncing return?
As Wizered says above "I support Bristol City FC , the club 100% all the way, myself since 1950, today and everyday.... "

McInnes at first was what everyone was looking for, Young hungry and wouldn't take no **** and had done great things at St Johnstone. In October of last year I started to doubt him as things were going wrong and nothing was being done about it i.e fontaine playing and Davies not. Then in December I just wanted him out. Especially before the window opened so he wouldn't waste any more money and we could have a manager in with a few weeks to asses the team before the window opened but no our board left it to late.

Regarding SoD he wasn't my first choice and he hasn't won me over yet, I'm behind him 100% but he needs more time before we can start raving about him and saying he's the one. His C.V will suggest he will make us a good team but its what he does next which will make us a good team. Whether that's keeping us up or re building the team in league 1 next season. Waiting Game.

I also wanted Del to succeed like a few others, he as been mentioned was the start whether his idea or the boards to start getting the academy going. I don't know if it will be good but time will tell on that.
Like someone said maybe he concentrated too much on that on not the present. But I do thank him for whether as some say luck but thank him anyway for saving us last year.
I'm still not convinced that all is ok regarding the defence, it seems to me that Del was mentioning that he wanted 2 defenders in December along with he tried to get some we know of in the summer. Even Millen wanted more defenders but we come now to the third manager in a season and half and we are still ****ing waiting for these defenders! And did we get one in January NO we are now relying on a 36 year old and the promise that there could be a loan. The only constant in all this is the board!! We have relied on luckily in the past two seasons to find suitable loanee's to rescue us. That alone should be a warning sign to sign one.
Ok I'm going to have people now saying that if Del never wasted his money on forwards then we could have one. You don't know if that's true and neither do I so don't preach what you don't know please, plus we were ****e in front of goal last season so we needed forwards as well.
What Del ****ed himself up on was not believing in the players he bought to the club in Anderson, Davies and Baldock he lost his way when Cunningham went along with Skuse against Petersborough. Up to then fans who hated Del at the end were saying we are going shock a few and be dark horses, this year, what do the bookies know blah blah blah.
Onto SoD no I'm not ****ing myself silly at every comment made nor do I hold much hope for this season but if I admit we are down in my eyes I'm failing as a supporter. But this can't be blamed on SoD if it happens.
Like Shiny I dont think we will bounce back next season because of one thing, we won't buy a ****ing good defender so we are back to the now nearly five year problem of not sorting the problem just blocking the dam with Sellotape.

I will give SoD my backing but that is like all the managers we have had as you have to take the bumps with the smooth.

Players will lift themselves when ever a new manager comes to the club, some posters were even ****ting themselves with pig faced moaning twat Davies arriving at Florest when last week confident we would roll them. Reason for the change because Florest players will be like ours playing to impress the next manager.

I know some will say SoD will sort it etc, but until I see a good Sean Taylor, Jamie McCoomb no nonsense defender to arrive at our club, with a decent ball playing defender of a friend. Because the ones we have are just cak.

    Enjoy tomorrow everyone <ok>

Er no. didnt know who he was, didnt want him at city, thought he looked poor last season and got lucky and this season he looked the worst manager at the club for any length of time since the 70's.

Wanted O'driscoll at the club seasons back and impressed already.

Exactly i did not know who Del was,and the same as you did not want him as our manager.
How the hell he beat SOD to the post is beyond believe.
Christ a small club as big as Cheltenham,no disrespect there, but it was a massive gamble.
Like you SOD was my preference when coppell got the job.I have to say i am a lot happier with him guiding the ship.

Last season the changes he made to 4-4-2 to include carey, cisse, bikey, stead a sunday league manager would have made sooner. I already can see what o'driscoll is doing v Mcinnes month on month shambles of chop chop change and more.
