Singing Blue 3, here in peace. Just a thought my red stripey fiends, do you think you can get a top ten finish without rebuilding your current squad, or will you just be content to seek your survival next season in the Championship? We are of course looking forward to playing you again to get some easy points next season!................
i think our current squad would finish about 14th or 15th, if we make some quality additions, there is no reason we can't challenge playoffs
easy points? Yeah right! I will not be too surprised to see us do the double over you and take 6 points from you next season. As for positioning, i think we should be aiming for top 6 but it's a very tough league and it's going to be hard but with Fonte at the heart of our defence, Lallana, Morgan & Chambo in midfield and Lambo up front then, that, my little pedigree chum, is a recipe for promotion once again!
Is there any reason that you know of why we can't have ago for a top ten or higher? Indeed with the squad we have at the moment? Our problem would be probably lack of real back up in the event of suspension or injury. We expect to add a couple probably although most likely from the squad we finished with at the end of the season. (Stephens) Possibly N'guessan. We have a few players out of contract Jaidi, Connolly, Martin. If we do not sign these then they will be replaced with the addition of Puncheon. Even if he did want to stay I do not think it a good move for his career. So yes there will be a few going and coming in my view so there is little to stop us at least having a go. We will have to see. Do you have your doubts that we do better than survive?
So whats the crack down your end then SB3?? 10 players released i saw on SSN's. Will it be mainly loans again next season or is this takeover genuine??
Will Pompey have enough players to actually field a side next season? I think there are more dark days ahead for PFC fans this summer. Injuries allowing, I think our current squad is top 10 material already. Especially when you factor in that Saints did best this season against the bigger teams in League 1, it was just some of those small ground away days we struggled at, but even then, just a handful of times. I won't get carried away with this "doing a Norwich" talk, but we have momentum and a good feeling about the club and that really is half the battle in football.
I'd also point out that Saints & Pompey's fortunes often mirror each other in opposite ways. Pompey have struggled in their first season in the Championship, doing worse than Saints did. We then slid further the season after, so whose to say that won't also happen to PFC next season?
What a silly question. Don't forget to watch BBC1 this evening you may see some of your friends on a programme called Saints and Scroungers. I think it is about our club and your club.
Neither do I Edward! The 'crack' is my red stripey fiend, that the players released were youngsters not deemed good enough and contract rebels Michael Brown and Richard Hughes. Sensible financial rationale ,unlike posting losses of ã7+ mn ! We like most teams in the division including yourselves will bolster the squad with Premier League loan players looking for regular first team football and experience. We will hopefully also have a decent transfer kitty to be made available by the prospective new Russian owners. Fingers crossed then........how about you got any billions to spend yet for next season?
I hope this isnt the start of the type of thread that dominated BBC606, It is the reason I (and others, Im sure) got so bored with it.
I think everyone gets too easily wound up on here. It's a bit of banter and everyone needs to chill out a bit. Singing Blue knows deep down that Pompey are sh*t.
