remember the mention of a new coach coming into the club ? well it looks like it might be announced tomorrow !! the guy played under Laudrup and is the coach of the Danish under 21's . Apparently this guy is very very highly rated and is in the same style football wise as Laudrup !!

Its all pointing to an extension of Laudrups time here folks...if you build it they will come !!

I will search for links .

Losely translated it means "Michael Laudrup is predation in DBU, learn sport. dk. U-21 national coach Morten Wieghorst joined his new Assistant will be in Swansea.

Denmark will lose a U/21 national coach, while Michael Laudrup and Swansea will have an assistant coach. It is the result of a dramatic reshuffle from Denmark to Wales.

The former FC nordsjælland Manager Morten Wieghorst stands today at the head of the red/white U-21 team, but with the contract expired in the summer is the world open to former Danish national team player. DBU wanted to extend, but has kept the Union into the stretched Wieghorst arm with a wish again to become Club coach. Now it turns out why.

Sport learns that .dk Morten Wieghorst has fulfilled his desire again to have grass under your feet every day. But it will not be Danish grass.

This is fantastic news for the club!! Larsen is going to push on to a more advanced scouting roll while this guy takes on the coaching job and becomes assistant. Apparently he was being groomed for the full Danish job but wanted a return to club coaching, he is known for being a very good coach and has won honours as a manager too.

Im really chuffed that we pulled this one off, couple of points to make .

1- Laudrup aint going nowhere for a couple of years,as he is stocking up on a more expansive and progressive coaching set up.
2- Laudrup is getting ready to groom his successer for when he leaves the Swans, maintaining continuity that we crave to remain succesfull .
3- The new guy is very well respected, knows the British game after spending time at Celtic and has a coaching philosophy similar to Laudrup,Rodgers and Bobbt M.

    Mortens coaching career - wiki.

    "Coaching career

After ending his active career he became assistant coach for FC Nordsjælland during the 2005–06 season. When manager Johnny Petersen was let go, Wieghorst was promoted to FC Nordsjælland manager for the following season. In his first year as manager, he led Nordsjælland to a fifth place finish in the 2006–07 Danish Superliga season, the best finishing position since 2003. Despite finishing ninth in the 2007–08 Danish Superliga season, Nordsjælland qualified for the UEFA Cup via the UEFA Fair Play ranking. Wieghorst managed Nordsjælland to a run in the 2008–09 UEFA Cup defeating TVMK Tallinn from Estonia and Scottish club Queen of the South,[12] before they were eliminated by Greek side Olympiacos. He managed Nordsjælland to the Danish Cup 2009-10 trophy, the first title in club history. The following year Wieghorst and Nordsjælland won the trophy again thereby defending the title.

On 28 February 2011 the Danish Football Association revealed that he would be the successor of Keld Bordinggaard as manager of the Danish national under-21 football team after the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship in June that year. He continued as manager of FC Nordsjælland until the end of the 2010-11 Danish Superliga[13] and led Nordsjælland to the Danish Cup 2010-11 trophy in one of his last games in charge of the team.[14]

Good old wiki already has him showing as a Jack.

Sounds a top guy. A winner as player and manager, came back from a serious illness to carry join playing and missing a penalty on purpose!! Hopefully, this is a pointer to ML putting pen to paper

Is it too many chiefs and not enough indians?

What exactly are the roles of Erik Larsen, Alan Curtis & Morten Wieghorst? Confused.com

Wieghorst - number 2, Curtis - coach, Larsen - chief scout.

Nothing unusual there, we had the same under BR, RM etc

We could save a lot of money by one person being all three. I'll do it.

Well as far as im concerned have the right team around you makes the difference. Larsen takes care of alot of the scouting,he is very good at it as well!! Laudrup probably feels he will enjoy the job more by being left to do the things he wants to do like being on the training ground and giving his thoughts to players and preparing for the opposition, all the gravey if your a top footballer. Having the right team around him will ensure Laudrup stays fresher for longer IMO. The new coach will be there for fresh ideas and i reckon he will also take some of the media interviews off Laudrup too, if he can surround himself with people he trusts then i beleive its possible he can take a longer view at the project and can also push the club further forward.

Fergie was one for always bringing in the next best thing as coach. He did it for years and i think still does it, it keeps the mind fresh and makes you look at things differently which is important in a very competetive league.

As my friend said to me months back when he told me about a new coach coming on board, he spoke with eric larsen who was very passionate about doing good things here, its the first time they have had a chance to do things their way with total support from the board, something they have never had anywhere else, they feel that they can prove alot of things to alot of people with the backing they have been given. that was many months ago and its clear to see that the whole Jenkins/Laudrup partnership is a fruitful one.

I look at our situation and cant help to think how lucky we are to have laudrup as a coach, he really does ooze class !

I think judging by contract re-newals we are looking at a bit of continuity for a couple of seasons at least !!

The article's on BBC now (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21372756) and I was a bit concerned by this line "Laudrup has insisted there is no urgent need for him to extend his contract at the Liberty Stadium. '"I think for me the present is more important than the future, we have so many things coming up now and I already have a contract for next season so it is not urgent for me,"

This was in response to Huw saying earlier today that he wanted to start talks with ML about extending his contract. Surely if he was settled and wanting to stay here, he'd snap up a contract extension?

Did you see the press conferrence though ??

If you see his body language and the context in which he answered you will not be so worried. I got the impression he was very relaxed about it and i feel this guy doesnt feel the need to worry about things like that until the time is closer, he still has 18 months to go anyway and i dont think anybody will railroad Laudrup into signing when he is not ready.

He seems a very pragmatic man and will take stock at the end of the season, he also is very wary of making a fool of himself in public and as we all know football bites you in the ass when you least expect it.

His intentions towards Swansea have been totally genuine and refreshing from day 1.

Norway, Laudrup grooming his successor is not necessarily the case. When managers leave clubs they usually take their oppos with them as happened with Bobby and Brenda at our club. Lots more instances at other clubs as well.

It might be that Laudrup does feel he will move on to a bigger club in a season or two and he is establishing his coaching team and giving them the experience of working together. I'd like to think, though, that it means he feels he is settled here at least for the medium term.

Yes I saw this on the Beeb earlier and it's an astute move imo. Hopefully when Laudrup goes he won't go with him because he looks like the real deal as a replacement. Exactly the same sort of background, if not the playing pedigree.

Danish Swans fan here, first time posting.

Wieghorst is one of the very highest rated coaches in Denmark, probably only second to Laudrup :). Im am absolutely certain he will be a succes for Swansea, he knows the english/british game well from his time at Celtic, and is also a very sympathetic guy to boot.

Congrats on getting him. Now you just need a danish player or 2 :)

    Welcome to the fold Inferno!
do you know any good danish strikers?(except Bendtner), we are short upfront!

This Weighorst fella sounds like an astute signing. What with all the contract renewals recently things seems set for -shock horror - continuity!!!

hehe - Bendter is the biggest hate object in Denmark - would love to see a guy like Christian Eriksen sign up with Swansea.

Or if talking about a striker, we actually have one of the biggest european hopes in 18 year old Viktor Fischer. And with Laudrup, who knows what could happen )

I'm glad it's not just me Mick, Bendtner is a bellend. Viktor Fischer sounds interesting but I think he might be too expensive for us. Sounds like a huge talent judging by the articles I've found on him.
Let's hope the viKING can get us another Michu style bargain!

Fischer would be sweet. I doubt that Ajax will let him go for a price that Swansea can afford though. Andreas Cornelius is the best bet I guess.

But I say stick to Spain, there you get quality strikers for a penny ;)

Swans should sign Niclas Helenius from danish football club Aab!! He matches the bill perfectly: A major talent, overshaded by Cornelius yessir, but then he doesn't cost £ 5-8 mill. as Cornelius does.
