JW believes he has built a squad capable of avoiding relegation and will only dip into the loan market in case of emergency. Ward recruited six players during January to bolster what was a threadbare squad prior to last Thursday nightâs transfer window deadline. The loan market re-opens for business tomorrow following a seven-day break from all transfer activity, but Ward says the imminent arrival of any more new faces is unlikely. He said: âIâm happy with the squad. The situation at the moment is that we will dip in to the loan market if and when we need to should we pick up a few injuries here and there. We have improved the strength and depth of the squad over January, but if we were to see two or three key players ruled out over the remaining weeks of the season, then it is obviously something weâd look at. âI wonât be looking to do anything imminently because we are quite solid and I donât want to disrupt what we have going here at the moment. âWe have people watching games and assessing what players may be available so that if we need to do something at any time we can do it quite quickly and sensibly.â
I think we are ok for players at the moment unless Colchester decide to recall O'Toole then we might need a midfielder besides I think JW would prefer to give a few youngsters a crack instead
I think we need an experienced striker so hopefully he is looking and keeping an eye on targets ready if we need them. ps, keep up the good work seamge, need this board more active around this time when were all buzzing.
John Ward has got us scoring goals again. I still think we could do with a striker, but I'm a little less concerned now. Whether we like it or not Ward has turned it around by playing one up front, and he's got the midfielders scoring! Richards, Anyinsah, Hitchcock, Harrison, Broghammer, Clarkson (and a young lad Jamie Lucas in the U18s) are all around; with Harrold recovering. So for the moment Ward probably thinks he's got enough options
I have every confidence in JW but if the right player became available then we should get him on board.
