    Who in your lifetime do you regret seeing live?

    Well my regret is Joe Strummer,no doubt many of you in UK would have seen him.I was just a bit too young to see The Clash in Dublin but regret never bothering my arse to see The Mescaleros,my loss.I read Chris Salewicz's book and whether true or not I ended loving Joe even more.

    My older brother had the pleasure of seeing Rory Gallagher live and only now do I appreciate his talent.

    And most artists on Atlantic,Otis et al but I think the good ones were dead by 1970!

    If I'd just been a couple of years older I probably would have witnessed Fields of the Nephilim playing locally supported by Victims of the Pestilence. Those two used to play all the time together until the Nephs got big and started playing places like London and Birmingham rather than Letchworth and Baldock.

    Crass would have been fantastic too.

    Saw Manic Street Preachers live and it was depressingly ****. Maybe they were just having an off night.

    I regret being so ****ed up on a cocktail of booze and drugs that I slept right through Led Zep at Knebworth. Managed to stay conscious throughout about 6 other acts - Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen was a particular highlight, as was Chas n Dave - but by the time Zeppelin came on, I was sparko.

    Im finding it quite difficult to think of anybody " in my lifetime " who Ive wanted to see but havent - Dexys maybe ; Outwith that timeframe there would be too many to mention.but top of the list would probably be The ( original ) Allman Brothers

    I've been lucky enough to see most bands and artists I wanted to. Many bands who had split up before I'd started going to gigs or getting into their music re-formed later on and I got the chance to see them live eventually.

    Underwhelmed by;

    Oasis at Earl's Court (before they started playing places like Wembley Stadium)
    Stereophonics at Earl's Court (they'd just sacked their drummer who went on to die in a booze-fest)
    Big Audio Dynamite at Shepherd's Bush Empire - not at their height and the ex drummer from Sigue Sigue Sputnik couldn't even count in the band for one track, took about four goes to get it right
    Extreme at The Astoria - the singer spent the best part of the gig holding out his microphone to the audience expecting them to sing along. I felt like climbing onto the stage and twatting the drummer, kicking him off the kit and taking over, he was ****.
    Guns N Roses - got dragged along with mates to see them at Wembley. I ****ed off early because Twaxle Rose' voice is the equivalent of amplified nails dragging down a blackboard
    Rolling Stones - Might have been the Steel Wheelchairs tour at Wembley, I can at least say I've seen them but the event was rather poor and that Charlie Watts is the luckiest ****er alive to have been in the right place at the right time getting the Stones job. Not that he'd know what timing is, another **** drummer.

    Never got to see;

    Bo Diddley - he used to play Hammersmith Odeon every year and I always thought "must get to see him next time" then he karked it

    It's a bit pointless wanting to see people who died ages ago "Oh I wish I'd seen Elvis" and the like. Might as well say "I wish I'd seen Mozart".

    Clash for me - just a couple of years too young.

    Oh and Pink Floyd - I could have strapped explosives to myself and taken them and all the idiots who lsiten to their awful dirge out with me.

    Throughout the nineties I saw them about eight times.

    As the musicianship went up (and certain members disappeared), the atmosphere and general vibe of them got worse.

    Saw them in about 92 and they were alright - 94-ish at the Barras after the Holy Bible had come out was amazing.

    After that, every time I saw them wasn't as good - last time, I think, was at the SECC - an absolute barn of an accoustic nightmare of a place to hold a gig and I've never been since.

    Don't regret it but should have gone to see Thin Lizzy (with Phil Lynott) at the Glasgow Apollo in 79.

    Oh and I wish I has seen and heard Rachmaninov at his peak.

    Was that the rescheduled gig? That's the one I was at. The SECC is **** but set list was wrong in my opinion. They didn't play enough consecutive hits to build up a head of steam.

    You should have paid the entrance fee then you tight, old ****.

    Pains me to say it but the worst I have seen was Bowie at Roker Park in 87 on the Glass Spider Tour. Absolute ****in drivel. Pompous, pretentious **** and **** music.

    Only one song he played struck a chord and that was "All The Madmen". The rest was his 80's ****. It was just so wrong.

    Seen Radiohead in Aberdeen and they were excellent, saw them again on Glasgow Green in a tent just before "Kid A" came out and the whole set was "Kid A". Couldny get into that gig at all.

    Worst I ever saw was Fish out of Marillion - took my brother to see it for his birthday. Abysmal - truly abysmal.

    Gyles Brandreth was once the world Monopoly champion.

    Even utter messes of wallopers can do something worthy of looking up to <laugh>

    Wasn't he Mary Whitehouse's protege at one point on an anti-porn campaign or something?
