What a difference! Watched the England game and some of the France v Germany one. The latter is all rush and muscle and very direct.
Mine packed up for the second time in three months on Monday. Last time I took it back to find the shop closed for refurbishment. Several heated phone calls got me a replacement delivered. This time I've bought a cheap phone with a different supplier and, so far, it works far better than the more expensive one...better signal too which is usually very poor inside the house. Tomorrow I will trek into Eastleigh again and insist on a refund for the original phone. They'll refuse no doubt and we shall have another heated discussion. They will probably be glad to see the back of me...
unfortunately the phone companies have us where they want us. They insist on long contracts, but the phones aren't made to last that long yet..so we pay through the nose for insurance, but they never pay out...and they insist on trying to fix it before they'll replace it..so it just breaks again...we can't win
True enough, though as I use mine infrequently it's pay as you go...or pay as you don't go to be more accurate...
I have a question that maybe Barry can answer. Under current players for the Sark football team, listed on Wikipedia, is one Victoria Rang. There is obviously a joke here but it elludes me. Unless, of course, Sark have the first trans-sexual player in their ranks.

Morning all from a bright & sunny bandit country - I have finally given up and I am nursing the cold at home. Hope I can recover for tomorrow as I don't fancy a night out in the cold . Tickets from Brum arrived this morning and the train from MK is also booked so that is one planned and sorted... I was quite impressed with England last night and I thought they played some good football.

Am I the only person who went to Wembley last night who thought the performance of both teams was dire beyond belief? Sra was asking to go home at half time it was so bad. If England are being considered quite good, then Neymar was right when he said England would not win the World Cup. Leighton Baines proved a real pain to the Brasilians when he came on and Joe Hart did very well in goal, but the rest of them need a kick up the arse. There seemed to be no overall drive, no spirit; admittedly both England goals were well worked moves, but for most of the time England were chasing shadows in a game that had 2-2 written all over it. Brasil on the other hand were looking like a team who: a. Did not know each other, justified when they are scattered here, there and everywhere. b. Going through the motions, who really wants to be chasing about in little shorts on a cold Wednesday night in west London? c. Couldn't get out of first gear, until it was too late d. Decided that the half-way line was the place to be. e. Were playing with 10 men, as they collectively forgot Oscar on the wing. f. What was including Ronaldinho Gaúcho all about? 100th appearance, more like 95th. And what was the half time samba school thing all about, that was embarrassing. In all the years I have been watching England and Brasil as a casaul spectator, attending the matches, there was the oddity of my first Brasilian defeat and a rare England victory (I really pick England games well ). And we have it all over again in June when England play in the reformed Maracanã. The Chiltern trains to Wembley were good, as LU couldn't say if there were engineering works on the line from Isleworth to Wembley or not.
Possibly - sometimes though it is the result that is most important - a win helps the players believe they can actually beat even Brazil ... when you get to be as old and cynical as me you will believe ALL politicians are a disaster. Yes it is a positive he did not put education back 10 years - shame he could not have put it back 50 years. Before politicians started tinkering we had teachers who were paid better salaries and knew what they were doing and had greater respect. It got so that when I was taking on anyone from school or even University I could not expect them to spell correctly, have any grammatical knowledge and don't get me started on their arithmetical ability. Whoever believed the nonsense that each and every year the results were better than the year before - that sort of thing does not happen unless the results are fixed - there would always be high years and slumps - but no; according to the statistics each year showed an improvement - tell that to the marines. It is about time someone put schools back to teaching proper subjects and left things that should be learnt at home to parents
