I'm left footed and played on the wing in school. Got a narky injury in late teens which, as I tell everyone, put paid to my footie aspirations. Being **** had nothing to do with it. I continued to play mostly 5 a side for work teams and also went in for table tennis, squash and badminton. Played county league badminton and one night completely shredded my calf muscles. Couldn't walk for weeks, it was eight months before I could play anything again and never been the same since.
I was quite lucky with injuries, only had the odd groin strain here and there (probably about four times in total) up until I was 27. However, its gone tits up since then! the first injury was the worst IMO, I snapped tendons in my ankle which still hurt now, four and half years later! Also managed to twist both my knees and completely snap my left forearm
My worst was I tore the tendon that runs along the bottom of the foot, how the **** does that happen!!!!
My snapped tendon was annoying because it wasn't caused via a crunching tackle etc, I was merely blocking a shot! It hurts if i try to kick the ball with the outside of my foot so I am very much a 'safe' player nowadays because of it.
