Rooney said he enjoys playing bunches of matches in 3-4 days interval. He gets good rhythm and incidentally he scores in bunches after bunches of goalless matches.

 

It's not the duty of any international manager to rest Manchester United's players. Hodgson was within his rights to play Rooney for 90 minutes. He could play him in goal if he wanted to.
