Quiet round here, aint it? Everybody grieving over last Saturday? Cheer up, it appears we played quite well for most of the match. Andy Hughes returned in a friendly today: http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20130205-hughes-comeback-640507.aspx Am I correct in thinking not a single one of our (too) large professional staff is now out through injury? If so, I wonder when that was last the case?
Can't remember when that happened last, eddie. Well pleased for Hughes, didn't honestly think we'd see him again. Interesting that Michael Smith is back from his stay in Wales. I thought that would be extended until the end of the season, but with BWP headed out for Swindon, he'll be essential cover. Swindon down to the bare bones today, but still won. Just got back from Cheltenham vs Bristle - Benno had a useful game but could have done with seeing way more of the ball. The Gas soaked up loads of pressure and got a point with the last kick of the game - snorting long range shot. Excellent game.
It is very very quiet on ere. I raised a post about forum usage a few months ago and it seemed from the excellent responses from mods that we had more registered posters but they were posting infrequently. Seems to have got progressively quieter ever since. Some notable and much missed posters have disappeared (Stu) or are here much less often (Ponders) unless I'm not reading very carefully and am simply missing their appearances. Not aware that there has been an "Airman" saga or an Ackworth of late to piss people off. Hope it picks up. Still good here.
I think we probably post more when we're angry, and there's not too much to be angry about at the moment. There are a few concerns, eg the squad is too big, The Doctor's use of substitutes, especially the last 2 games where we have been killed off by opposition substitutions, loaneees, although they've all gone back now, but we all seem to share these concerns so there's not much to argue about. Apart from the Cup game we see a team giving it's all on the pitch and holding its own in this league, so we're pretty quiet at the moment. Mind you, that could all change with a couple more defeats........................................
we'll probably win most of them. we're unpredictable against similar status teams and win against those who we're supposed to have no chance against. be interesting to see the line up come saturday now we have most people back from injury and having got some minutes under the belt
Can we start an argument then. I have two suggestions a) Best midfield partnership To get the argument rolling, I'll suggest Hughes and Hollands as that coincided with the best period I have seen under Powell, when we ripped opposition apart and were very solid at the back. 2) Cup runs, what's the point? If we had beaten Huddersfield, the prize would have been another home match against Leicester. Not very likely to progress from that, but if we did, it would be another home match against Wigan. As far as I understand it the club often makes a loss on home cup matches. Would it have been worth it for the chance to lose to Wigan in a later round? Wouldve needed to win in three non-exciting matches for a chance at finally hitting a big club..... I know Millwall got a dream draw, but we beat Luton a couple of years ago
"cup runs- what's the point?" Exactly what the team were saying when we played 'Udders. Not a pretty sight. Ah yes the Hughes/Hollands partnership- great while it lasted but can anyone see it being repeated? Since we've established that The Doctor reads not606 for ideas I'd like to suggest to him that he tries Jackson as defensive mid. He's got the brains for the job!
Honestly- other than match day it all been pretty quiet at the club. I haven't even checked our newsnow page in days. I was also going to start a weekly round up thread, but when starting one is was pretty embarrassing due to the little content. When games start coming thick an fast again ill start that feature, plus usage/traffic etc will pick up. We just seem to be in a state of purgatory.
