Having been away for business I just came back to read this.

Think banning someone for discussing football on a football forum is completely idiotic! Yes Dai's love in with Liverpool is annoying at times, but I find it as funny as ****. If you don't like what he says and you can't respond in a sensible way then ignore it.

I have no problem ignoring Dai when I want to, I also have no problem arguing with him, I've been doing so since I first came to 606. He's been the same since then.

What I disagree with Dai mostly is calling people muppets etc, but then I see he gets called a lot worse than that by some on here. Learn to ignore him if it upsets your fragile sensibilities, me I prefer to argue and win the debate like I do most of the time with him.

Live and let live someone mentioned in the thread, I agree with that, what I don't agree with is these bans because someone doesn't agree with the majority, I am really disappointed with the moderators on this issue, I feel they are letting the majority steamroll over someone that people have decided to dislike.

 

I kind of agree with that Jager, as my earlier posts have said. I'm not down on the mods so much though. They have a discretion and whereas I wouldn't have banned Dai if I was a mod I can understand the annoyance - particularly going onto the Liverpool board and laughing at Swans fans. What was he thinking?

But I'm with you. He's abusive but always posts about football. The ignore button is there for a reason.

A moderator can not place a poster on ignore so its not as simple as that.

As has been said, he was warned, he didn't take the warning, what did he expect? Another warning?

Its done now, he's served his 24 hours.

I didn't say I did, but sometimes people are over the top, and I mean Dai as well as others. People need to stop taking everything to heart on here, I have seen some pretty strong comments on here as its not warranted, it's just a forum on football, and most here don't know each other do they?

Take things with a pinch of salt, I just use this place to have a little banter with like minded people, yes follow the rules if they make sense. But banning someone who is talking about football here sets a precedent that makes us look like idiots!

On the swans forum rules does it say that people can't discuss Liverpool or any other teams ? I see other threads here about teams that are not us, does the same rule apply there, should the thread starters be sanctioned because we don't want to talk about that side of football ?

 

The rules are quite clear in respect of someone who tells a mod to **** off.

 

So what about the ones that abuse him with the personal insults for discussing football ? If the rules are going to apply they should be applied for everyone equally ! And on that swearing on here as in not606 is not banned as there is a swear filter that can be applied.

 

Jager, I am avery laid back guy. I take most things with a pinch of salt, and I do Dai. But, as a moderator of the board, I have to keep everyone happy. If there's 10 posters unhappy with one poster, then I have to side, to a degree, with the ten.

I don't think many people had an issue with his football dicussions, but when he continually called someone an idiot for disagreeing with him, then an argument is going to breakout.

Also, to go to someone elses board just to slag of his fellow fans is below the belt.

You can't agree with all the people all of the time it's impossible. At some point anyone can disagree with anyone and even fall out.

Dai however seem'd to me to post in a different manner to other people on here. He appeared to me to enjoy causing controversy, trying to belittle other posters and deliberately going out of his way to draw people into arguements. Maybe I'm wrong but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

The night he was banned he had gone onto the Liverpool board and he was insulting us on here. That's right he was running his own fans down on another teams board. To me that shows a total lack of class. I've argued with people on here but I would never go to another board and ridicule them and I can't imagine people like FFS, SA9, PGF, Swim, Jäger etc etc (it goes on and on) doing what Dai did either.

Then he starts a thread with no intention of debating. It was to wum and cause trouble. He had a warning from Norway, paid no heed and the thread was rightly shut down.

He then gets a warning from Ash and his response was to tell Ash to fcuk off.

Both our mods acted correctly, they were left with no option. The man was undermining them and actually goading them into action as he clearly believes he is above any rules and better than anyone else on here.

Perhaps it shouldn't have gone on for this long and action taken earlier instead. I've long thought that there must be some unwritten rule on here that Dai is allowed to be abusive and that he's always right. I'm very surprised that anyone will still defend him after what he's done but that's the beauty of people having different opinions.


Bottom line, back our Mods because they were right. It looks like it might have worked too because he hasn't been back on here insulting people left right and centre.

 

I appreciate your opinion Dilli, but there is always two sides to a story, I have yet to hear Dai's on this. He can be very condescending and downright rude at times, and I have had many many run ins with him over the years.

I disagree with him very strongly on things and have called him an idiot, a short sighted fickle moron and so on, as it happens he's called me some as well, it's all part of discussing things with him. Some it seems can just get on with things and others can't. I just see his comments on other boards as a dig at people who dig at him.

Most of the arguments stem from his love affair with Liverpool and Brendan, I find them more amusing than annoying, and just comment as I see fit. I don't see a sign saying no talking about that on the door, it's a football forum that has multiple teams on here. If he was going on a different website and saying these things would you take his words so to heart?

Ash I moderated this forum as well, I can't recall banning anyone apart from John Hughs but have never thought about banning one of ours, I think that must be a first to ban one of our own fans from here? Even if it was for 24 hours. I am not criticising you as you do a good job, but on this I question whether the right choice has been made.

 

Jäger, if you have a look at the " Thoughts on Graham" thread and I think it's page 8 that's where it started between Dai and Ash. Then there's his own thread "Safe this season" the one Norway locked. On the Liverpool board it's the one where Gerrard says they can finish 4th and that's the one where he has a go at our fans. I only knew he'd posted on this because he proudly boasted about it.

I'd be interested in your thoughts after reading through, I will warn you though there's a lot to read

 

I have already read it earlier today Dilli, I'm not condoning what he said to Ash, he's an adult it's up to him what he posts. But how many people have sworn at each other and got banned? I told phil the other day to stop putting words in my ****ing mouth, was that worthy of a ban ?

If there are to be rules on such things its got to be consistent across everyone, the sticky on the forum rules mentions about no personal abuse, but each time Dai mentions Liverpool or Brendan he gets lots of personal abuse, he discusses football and gets abused for it. Dai swears at someone and he gets a ban.

Sorry that is not applying the made up rules fairly in my opinion

 

Everyone's made their point so I see little point in doing this to death. Fact is, it's been done and the ban has now lapsed. Let's move on.
