.. I think you would also take Knockaert and Wood .. Knockaert has all the potential in the world ... check out our 2-0 away win at Huddersfield ... you could take those two goals as complete flukes if you weren't watching him week in week out ... he is a real game changer, the type of player needed in the Premier league ...
I'd certainly take Knockaert and Wood - perhaps that's what Stevo meant when he said "Leicester have a couple I'd take but from the others....etc"?
Morgan? aguably the best CB in the Championship, hes got a good few years left to be a Premier league footballer.
I actually prefer to look at it like this: The Cardiff sides over the past few years under Jones were great to watch, full of flair but always fell short of promotion. This time they have built a team that can grind out results, keep clean sheets and be resilient. This is a much better recipe for promotion, along with incredible consistency. Yes I would have to agree you were mightily lucky to beat us 1-0, but thats just one game. Also it seems a bit of a myth that you scrape wins all the time, you have scored a decent amount of goals, more than nearly evryone else, so they cannot be that boring. Lets not kid ourselves, 30 games into the season you are where you are on merit, and they are a massive 10 points clear. What I will say is that I certainly wouldnt say they have it sewn up,and that any of leicester, palace or watford could grab 1st or 2nd. Its crunch time now, every point is vital and if we keep our best players injury free we have a decent chance. p.s I didnt include Hull above because they STILL didnt sign a striker.
While Morgan is class he is in his prime years of his career. We are seeing the absolute best of Wes Morgan this season Knockaert, Wood and Schmeichel are still some way off their prime and still all young players who will only get better
.. not sure I entirely agree Proud - should we get promoted Wes would have to be even better next season and I believe that he is capable of rising to that challenge .. he has a few years left in him yet and for me he is getting better all the time ...
I mean best so far in his career. Can he get better i think he can but so far he has never had a better season then this one
Agreed - I'm going to make a wild prediction here ... lots of 'ifs' in it ..... 'if' we were to get promoted and 'if' we then strengthen and 'if' we were to do well in the early part of next season, then it would not surprise me 'if' Wes' name got mentioned as a possible 'surprise' England call up... .. as I've said, there are lots of 'ifs' in that ... but of the current crop of England centre halves, in particular, Terry, Cahill, Lescott and Shawcross ... Big Wes is probably more comfortable on the ball and certainly at bringing it out of defence ... don't get many centre-halves capable of a convincing step-over at pace!!! ...
Did you notice the goalscorers for Hartlepool in their win against Notts County on Saturday? Peter Hartley and James Poole. How weird is that? (I'm even more impressed if they actually signed the players based on their names, just so that this could happen)
You've busted me Sparks, I just couldn't spell Knockeart..... I've already posted both us and Hull should have been in for Woods. Whether Campbell will work out better we'll only know if us and Leicester both go up. I wouldn't swap Marshall for any Keeper in this league on THIS SEASONS form. I don't think any serious posts from our lot have said we've won it yet and I promise you if you offered everyone of us 2nd place guaranteed tomorrow we'd slap your hand off.
... do you think the latest match fixing investigations will go back as far as .. Forfar 4 East Fife 5 ... which I believe did happen once?
Unfortunately, that's a myth, it only ever actually happened in a sketch on The Two Ronnies(I believe Forfar 4 East Fife 3 is as close as they've got).
I thought it was Eric Morecambe and the gag was "East Fife 5 Forfar so far haven't scored". But I may have completely made that up
I just googled "Eric Morecambe East Fife 5 Forfar so far haven't scored" and it came up with one of your posts on a 'Soccer Saturday' thread a year ago. I'm sure it was Ronnie Barker in the 'and in other news' bit of The Two Ronnies.
