WE SCORE WHEN WE WANT WE'RE BRISTOL ROVERS WE SCORE WHEN WE WANT! (more tomorrow, just got in..........)
So....................... *this Rovers team doesn't give up, driving on to the final whistle *great support..loud 'Irene' straight after Cheltenham scored *Cheltenham were a different proposition to Barnet. Big, strong and direct ...tough opposition *Elliott's still got it...acknowledged Rovers fans a number of times *neither 'keeper actually had much to do *Joe had a 'Joe night'...some running around but little effect *Jon-Jo has a huge engine....everywhere *we were all over them for first 20 minutes...but pressure without a goal usually has one outcome *don't like to criticise referees, but this one was fussy and most 50/50s went Cheltenham's way *Brunt fought manfully up front..the one change from Friday was Woodards in for Broghammer. *we were all surprised Harrison didn't get on...but we can criticise when we start losing *back four and 'keeper looking pretty solid...don't see many changes coming there *still very tight at the bottom...not out of trouble by a long way * overall a real dig in and fight performance against a good, strong side. Oh...and a bluddy wonderful goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks P49 - how did we look when we changed to 442 from 451? We seemed to carry far more goal threat - is that right? If so, do you think we would be better served starting off 442?
Going to tread carefully there Bb.....I'd like to see us 442 but I appreciate what Ward is doing. Simply, if you don't concede you don't lose! I seem to remember many Twerton days being wins by the odd goal. Like I said above....while all's going well I ain't gonna criticise!!
I think 4-5-1 does work Brunt was just lacking support last night he needs more help from the wingers IMO we don't have the right strike partnership or strikers yet to play 4-4-2 shame Harrold is still out.
i am not a fan of 451. but we look stronger under ward using this but we do lack in the final 3rd. if we had more pace then i think i wouldnt mind it as much. but every time ward has gone 442 we have looked/sounded far more positive going forward and attacking. i think ward moved to 442 too late last night but thankfully we got that goal at the end. where we have that fighting spirit and never give up attitude now, start 451 as ward and the players obviously are happy with this. we have been dangerous with 451 like last night when we should have scored early when we dominated. if we can score using 451 then great but think we should go 442 earlier than yesterday to allow time to get back in the game.
