    Krul's always been good.

Dare I say it ......................................... but Perchie has to be our most improved player. Not that that's saying too much.

Perchy at the start of season was already good, his renaissance came last season. So I think this season it has to be Marv or Anita. Anita was admittedly ****e at teh start of the season but improved as he gained experience.

Also, shout out to Cabaye who's been absolutely massive in the last 2 games.

So you think Santon isn't capable of defending at all essentially, which I think is utterly ludicrous. He's not incapable at all. He's quite clearly been given an increasing responsibility in attack, even more so without Jonas in his way on the left, and he does a pretty effective job at both. He isn't perfect, of course, but no player is. Tiote has great games and games where he isn't as effective (and no, he hasn't regressed either).

Ashley Cole gets caught out of position as much as anyone when he bothers to add an attacking presence. Yet people willfully neglect this because he's English and EVERYBODY has been fed the line he's world class for years... How about the many European and World Cup games he's been smoked along with the rest of our defence.

If Santon's in the Italy squad, the most defensive nation on Earth and also one of the best time and again, then I think I'd err on the side of not writing him off for some innocuous reason that he doesn't quite fit your perceived role of LB, and if top teams are looking at signing him as has been reported, I hardly think he's regressed <ok>

And his crossing is way better than Jose's. Jose has only learnt crossing in the last couple of years, and Santon is still way better, even though he does cut to his right.

Another thing about Santon is that he's the best waver in the team. Always gives the fans a clap too. Used to walk over to the Gallowgate End after every game but I see he went over to the East Stand on Saturday.

    Santon for me.

Anita was just getting used to the league, which many people that slagged him off didn't understand.

Didn't think Anita was all that bad to start off with.

Hard working and not without skill, looked a useful player from the off to me.

Going for Marveux, didn't get to see much from him last year and after this run in the team he has looked like a EPL player.

I think if you read that again you'll see to suggest I think Santon can't defend at all is absolutely ludicrous. Indeed I think I said and have said on many occasions he was easily our most improved up until November, and one of our top two players of the season at that point. It is not really my perceived opinion of what a left back is, it IS the primary role of a left back to defend first, the clue is in the name really. He simply needs to tighten up and the fact he has cost us so many goals bare this out quite obviously. Being asked to get involved in attack is one thing, I very much doubt Pardew is asking him to cost us goals on a match by match basis. He himself admitted recently his form had dipped.

Getting in the Italian squad and teams wanting to sign him has little to do with his current poor defending. Like me, the likes of Milan and the national team manager can see a young man laden with talent, who wouldn't want that? His issues may be obvious and having a negative impact on the team at present, but they are easily rectified. His age and previous form means there is scope for that. If he was 29 and had only minimal improvement left in him, I might view it as more of a concern. His form has regressed over the course of this season, as I say he's young going through a really poor spell defensively, he hasn't lost his ability as you seem to think I'm suggesting.

Unfortunately the assist stats and what I've seen on the pitch suggest your love his crossing ability is somewhat misplaced in my opinion. I can't really think of one before Chelsea that has created a problem. Given the amount of time he has spent out of position on the left wing, you'd think they'd come to mind pretty easily to be honest.

Tiote has clearly regressed from his early days with us, Stevie Wonder can see that and the stat for passes completed bare it out if its stats someone likes. That is not to say he can't find his top level again, just he has regressed in the short term.

Cole may not be the full back he was but he has been rarely "smoked" for England over the last 10 years. Comfortably our highest performing and most consistent player to me. I just see your remarks about him as way wide of the mark. He is world class and has been for a long long time. Every club in Europe would have taken in him if they could, there is a good reason for this. I couldn't name a single football expert/manager who doesn't rate him or see him as world class.

He was trying his nuts off for me but like nearly every foreign player who comes, was bewildered by the pace. Not Moussa of course!
