    Had a disaster today, had a crash this morning on the A15. Think the cars going to be written off.

    Anyway I'm off with the family to Tenerife on Friday, theres 5 of us and the mrs' car is only small. They're quoting 300 quid for an airport transfer or its over 100 quid for a roof rack from Halfords. Cant just get a simple roof rack it wont fit.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Would it be cheaper/possible to use a train?

    Chazz, as long as you are ok that's the main thing.

    And if you can't get to the airport I will happily go to Tenerife in your stead. I'm nice like that!!

    The only options I can think of are:

    Train;
    Bung a mate with a big car/van some cash for a lift;
    I take it you don't get a courtesy car on your insurance?
    Hire a car;
    Transfer

    Any chance you could post a photo of your Mrs before I commit to going in your stead?

    Where do you fly from? Is it worth taking half family and luggage in car and you/oldest kid going on train?

    £300 seems usurious, have you tried the local taxi firms to see if any have a deal on?

    Try Hertz/Alamo car hire, Zafira for 1 day, pick up in Hull, drop off at East Midlands airport £65, suspect you can find cheaper if you try, or get something smaller and ram cases in, it's not your car after all.

    There were a few!! Green renault clio was off the road. Conveniently i was right outside the lay by after my 360. Back end went, tried steering out of it but no luck. I hit the central barriers spun round andfor a milli second thought ah thats not too bad!! Then the poor bloke behind me ploughed into my passenger side!!
    Just drove it 5 yards to park behind the copper!!

    Should have rammed him, there's a least a dozen of us on here who were there at the time and clearly saw him reverse back into you!

    Easy get 3 in and stick the others on your passengers (wife) lap. 1stly it'll save you a lot of money (tell her she can spend it) and 2ndly it'll teach the bitch that she doesnt need to take so much crap away with her. If she's like my wife 75% of it comes back unworn anyway.

    1 dress, 2 pairs bikini bottoms and a disposable razor. What else does she need?

    I have a focus hatch and you can get about 2 cases in the back depending on size. that is with parcel shelf down if you took that out could get another in there
