Haha, no worries. Well versatility is bound to be useful for Sunday League as I predict a lot of lads not turning up and someone having to fill in somewhere. It seems no-one wants to play in defense, which probably should've been quite predictable .
My brother used to play RB but I dunno if he would be interested. He goes to Uni this year so might be a little busy. I'll have a word.
If you need a goalkeeper, I'll come out of retirement. I used to captain the uni team, but haven't really played since I graduated in November. I might be a bit rusty, but that'll come with being a 20 pint/cig a night man. I'm only 25 though, so got my best years ahead of me!
haha, I'm not bad at free kicks and crossing, but I don't have the stamina I used to. I like to think of myself as more of a Rogerio Ceni type (look him up if you haven't heard of him, he's my footballing hero)
When I was a kid (9/10 years old) I was playing in France (on holiday) with some French kid who was having trials at Man U and he kept calling me Scholesy (mainly cos we had similar hair colour lol) Cant remember his name now, but I dont think he made much of a name for himself.
<-------- You're welcome to take any of the old farts on the left. so far I haven't been able to give 'em away. The caption below the team pic reads "Spot the Bald competition"..a few old heads there !
We probably will actually. Our keeper at the minute, like a lot of the squad, is pretty young and we're worried he'll get caught out off crosses/corners kind of situations. We have a fairly small joining fee and then we'll probably just ask for £3 if you start and £2 if you come on as a sub, which seems to be the standard cost among Sunday league teams. We now seem to have about 5 people who can play right-back and 2 who can play centre-back.
Haha, one way of looking at it I suppose. P.s. Tommytiger, guessing you're no longer based in Leicester?
No, I now live in South Cave/Sleepy Hollow/Wisteria Lane. I might need to buy some new gloves, I was looking through the kit I had, half of it has holes in. Best break out the bank card. I used to date somebody who lived in North Newbald. True Story.
Fair enough, was thinking it would've been a fair old trek. Our 'keeper kit is all green, the mitre gloves are supposed to be good but are a bit pricey, you can get some decent nike one's for just under a tenner though.
Wish it were that easy! We'll make sure we have a few before the proper season but I still don't foresee any before the Cott match on March 10th. ...
Wasn't expecting quite so much interest but it's great to see. This thread'll probably drop off soon so I'll PM jay, Stevenson Kieran, Tommy, naullzy and Adam ahead of our friendlies to see if you're still interested and if you can come down for a one or 2 and treat it as a sort of trial game.
