Have just heard a report on the news reference football match fixing and they claim they have evidence of hundreds of fixed matches throughout Europe over the last 20 odds years, including a champions league match here in England. I knew them bastards couldn't beat barcelona legitimately !!!!!
Have you ever seen a Mackem in Milan. Smacks of envy boys! Mind you, I'd be gutted if it was any of our matches!
The champions league game was from about 3-4 years ago. Barcelona back then weren't like they are now either.
The most obvious fix was Newcastle 4 arsenal 4 imo. Millions placed on the game finishing in a draw when arsenal were four up. Just a matter of time before this one comes out.
That would have been the ref then, remember there being some shocking decisions that game. How about the officials for Everton Newcastle this year? Everton had two perfectly good goals ruled out and the match ended 2-2
If you think back over the premiership years to decisions teams like Manu/Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea etc get - penalties given/penalties not given for opposition/ opposition players sent off etc it makes you wonder
To be honest the games that would be targeted for being fixed wouldn't be the likes of Man Utd as to much attention on them. It would more then likely be Barnet v Torquay (or the likes)
The season we got 15 points we only won 1 at home to Fulham - and I still, to this day, reckon the managers and players got together and said "as long as it's only 1-0 it makes no difference to us but if you start scoring loads then we'll make you pay for it" - I honestly believe they let us win that 1-0! Not quite in the "gambling" stakes but still a similar situation
On the otherhand, most people would think like yourself in the way that it would be too obvious to be true to try and manipulate a Man U game as opposed to a Barnet game and therefore because its too obvious to be true, nobody is looking for what may be occuring. Also, its a lot easier to conceal a large and irregular betting pattern on a team like Man U. For example on Betfair, your average Man U game may have about 5 million gambled upon the outcome, wheras Barnet may have 50k. It's a lot easier to conceal big money in 5 million that it is 50k. I've noticed over the years many strange decisions and in all honesty I think the sport is fecked.
