I have an iPhone 5, and it's excellent, unquestionably it's the best looking phone around. That said, I have to agree with Vegas, as an actual phone the Samsung is better in almost every department. I've had iPhone's from day one, and will never have anything else, ever. Ever, ever, but that's a personal choice thing, and absolutely not an 'it's the best available' thing. That said, it is functional as ****, the screen, camera etc is very good, they are easier to use than your own lungs, and they do look fantastic. Go for either (or the HTC) they are all so good, you really are better off going for the one you like the look of, or, in simple business terms, buy a 5, sell it on ebay, buy either of the other 2, and pocket yourself a wee profit. Jackpot.
Typing this on my S3 :-D Vegas is spot on! My son is an apple fanboi so got the i5 He then tried to prove how better it was than the s3 ;. He failed miserably we ran similar programs and the s3 pissed it for speed and accuracy. We both asked the phone for the nearest Indian takeaway he had to ask twice the s3 got it first go. His came back with the Indian at Penshaw not bad if we lived any where near there, mine was spot on for ones around us in Sunderland! The Internet was faster on the s3 too. The s3 larger screen is much easier for my tired old eyes. Apart from my contract payments it hasn't cost me a penny, my son has spent a fortune on iTunes in a very short time for software supplied free from Google and Samsung. He is always having to recharge the i5. Me I just bought extra batteries for a few quid including a high capacity one that came with natty new phone covers. Can't do that with iPhone . Or HTC. They are both excellent phones I would go and handle them together and go from there. Apples habit of strangling their own users pisses me off the boy is already set to hack and jailbreak his i5 just so he can do things I can already do fresh out of the box! Ask the iPhone users if they have already hacked their phone's. Every one I know with one has. As Vegas said it's adoddle to connect to the s3 as an access point. I watched the match in the willow pond and allowed a lad to connect to my Internet so he could browse on his pad!
Apple is an evil corporation! I've just got the Xperia t same as James Bond. It's very good so far and the camera beats every other phone by a mile. It's just under 14 megapixel!! Oh and I despise iTunes
Nexus 4. Better phone and cheaper too. Get one quick whilst they are in stock again https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_4_16gb and bumblebore, Sony are no less evil than Apple (google Sony and rootkit).
I might add, I thought the S3 was going to feel too big in my pocket but as its so slim it actually feels smaller than the chunkier I-Phone. One downside to the S3 is the battery life but it still lasts a whole day with everything switched on. If you use power saving you can get 2 days out of it and if you switch the Internet and wireless off you can get days out of it. On a 10 hour plane journey I watched films for almost the entire trip and still had some battery life left when we landed. The downsides I found were: My Iphone had learnt and adapted to my texting habits so it was frustrating when I first go the S3, now it has learnt, texting is easy again. I found the maps slow when I first got the phone but subsequent updates from Samsung seem to have fixed that problem. Google earth and street view worked amazingly in September when I was taking some European colleagues round London. It was also fantastic when our GPS when crazy and we got lost in East Germany on the tour bus. There are things if your a keen I-Phone user that take a bit of time to adjust to. If you have never had an I-Phone then its a no brainer. I will never buy an Apple product again. They are just far too expensive for what they actually are. I can run Mac OS on my PC which was £2k cheaper than the equivalent mac. In the music industry everyone has mac's but they crash and go wrong a lot, you have to remember they are just a PC now with a different operating system which is basically Unix/Linux. People confuse Microsoft products with PC's, you can run Unix/Lunix/Mac O/S or windows on a PC as you can now on a mac. You will find the O/S on an andriod phone and an I-phone are probably very similar. The difference is developers are given an open book to write software and apps on andriod where as apple put restrictions on what you can develop with the I-Phone O/S The future will be interesting.......
Stick your iPhones up your arses mate go for a Pringles can with large amount of string attached since my kids came along its all I can afford
****ing hate Apple products and their limited "hackability" - Android devices are much better for a techie (like me) BUT Apple devices are more user friendly - I have an iPad as well (mainly down to my singing and the sound quality being so good from it) so have both sides! Prefer android device when they're both put side by side
Probably right Jacky! Although I still maintain that Apple products are better for less technical people!! Maybe it's you that is less technical
Sorry couldn't resist!! It's good having a bit of banter without the animosity of football getting in the way!!
I disagree I-Tunes is about as user friendly as a 1980's video recorder without the instruction manual.
Thanks very much everybody for your input, end result is, mrs effect has gone for the iphone 5 and i'm getting the s3 on a 14 day try before you buy. Cheers again fellas
