True. Chappers is a great player without the ball; unfortunately he's only ok with it, though he did score vs Man Utd in the Cup 2 seasons ago.

Even if he goes out on loan, it's not that bad. He gets first team football at Coventry, rather than playing in the reserves, comes back sharper and is ready to join the first team next season.

If you loan someone out, isn't it best they go to a winning team? Cov are doing pretty well.

No doubt he'd be able to cut it in the Championship, but of course there may not be any Championship teams interested in signing an attacking midfielder at this time. If it's a loan with a recall option, I can't see the harm.

If JWP isn't going to get regular football here, then loaning him out makes perfect sense. We've got good cover for CM with Morgan, Cork, Davis and Chappers.

Am I the only one who thinks he's better than Steven Davis? I know that Davis is more established into the first team but when JWP was starting towards the start of the campaign, where he held his own against some top teams he didn't put a foot wrong.

I'd imagine you are one in a small minority, Davis has been outstanding the last few games and is rightly our 3rd choice central midfielder.

Davis has been very good recently, but I guess I'm judging it by the fact that Davis has played some average games for us whereas JWP hasn't (albeit he's had far less starts than SD and was IMO wrongly dropped for doing little wrong).

Really hate this logic - not sure if you're using it or pointing it out, but "dropped for doing little wrong" is just a terrible way to run a football team. Lambert has done almost nothing wrong for us, he's a hero, but we'd surely not keep him in the team if we signed Zlatan or Van Persie. Similarly, Davis, while having done little wrong (though my god, he was bad against Arsenal), isn't as good as Cork or Morgan, so was rightly dropped.

JWP looked like an established PL player in the games he started at the beginning, obviously Davis did too but I think that we were all surprised at his quality. Davis was given a run of games and has gotten better as the season's gone on, I guess we won't know how well JWP will do when playing consistently in the PL until he gets his chance again in a couple of years or so. And agreed, Cork and Schneiderlin are our 2 best CM's and I think that's our strongest position on the field in terms of depth.

I thought JWP didn't look out of place in the PL when we had the ball, however, without the ball he looked light weight in the centre and he could certainly benefit from good game time a league or two down just to build experience and strength.
