The same speculation as you've made with Bale. Saying that, what's to say that Walcott and Podolski wouldn't have scored more or been more effective with RVP in the team? What about Cazorla and Wilshere too? Losing a world class player would impact anyone and it's impacted negatively on us on many ways. We've managed well without him, but Arsenal are suppose to be a big club, we shouldn't be rolling into problems, season after season on such regularity. Where is our consistency?

I agree that's it's speculative. But as you point out, losing a world class player is always going to affect your team. I think losing Bale, would be more detrimental to Spurs than us losing RVP was, personally.

It all depends on who they get in to replace Bale. If they get the £40m+ for him, then if past evidence suggests, Spurs will reinvest and get some quality in. Even as a Spurs hater, you can't disagree that they have a quality squad. As for their stadium, will it ever get off the ground? That's another one we will have to wait for.

For the time being, the gap between us and them is marginal, with them becoming direct competitors to us now. The upcoming derby will be one of the most important games in recent history between us and them.

This is more about your hopes than it is about Spurs. You will all stick to your views despite the evidence because it suits your hopes that the current position of our two teams will revert to what you see as the norm.

A thread full of people talking through their Arsenal about subjects they patently know little about. <laugh>

And don't bother PISKIE I am not about to get sucked in to one of your bogus arguments where you start with bollocks and maintain the bollocks despite any evidence to the contrary.

I'll stick to watching the football thanks. <ok>

Ignoring the bit about stadium financing as we've been over that, a lot depends on whether we do get CL football. By that I mean how it's spent, if we miss out on the CL again I expect we'll spend roughly what we have going out, like with Modric this season, if we're in the CL it will be a case of adding to an already good sized transfer budget.

I don't think Bale's future depends on us getting CL though, when he moves he'll be moving because he thinks he's ready for a side that will challenge for trophies across the board and that won't be affected by us getting the CL so when he decides to leave and a major club puts in an offer suitable to sign him then he'll go, until then he'll stay with us.

Eitherway he'll be a big loss to us but so was Modric and we've survived and are on target to finish in the same position as last season. The plus side is that no matter what player wants to leave we've got all our key players for the future on long term contracts so we can have far more say in the fee and when they're sold.

Erm . . . nobody asked you to comment on this thread <ok>

Whether you like it or not, Bale, CL, or a new stadium - I don't think Spurs can have it all.

Dont let him get to you. What do you expect from someone who supports a team in an area where they start riots and looting because the police shoot someone with a gun.

What an embarrassing response, maybe you should give us a list of things we are allowed to talk about, it's an internet forum about football, shock horror we are talking about a footballer from our local rivals, call the police people, I confess that I'm guilty.

I'm not surprised you are now trying to turn it round and accuse me of missing the point, to try an save face, all the words are there in black and white and people can make up their own mind about who is missing the point.

You quoted Spurf saying that you(Arsenal fans) were talking about something you knew little about. He never said that you couldn't discuss Spurs or other footballing matters like your replies suggest.

The point I think Spurf was making, if you look at the whole post and not one line, is that this thread was filled with little more than bias from Arsenal fans hoping that Bale will be sold and that we can't build a stadium without putting all £30/40/50/60mill gained from it towards funding the build. I think it's a little harsh as there's a few here arguing that Bale isn't the be all and end all of Spurs but he has a point.

Get a grip pal, there have been numerous threads and post on your board regarding the RVP situation with us last season, that was filled with bias from spurs fans that knew little about the situation but still felt the need to give their opinion. The way yourself and spurf are talking, arsenal fans should not be giving their opinion on spurs on a sports forum designed for people to give their opinion on football. Whether you think the opinions given were correct or not, is not the argument, spurf clearly implied that arsenal fans should not be giving an opinion on these matters despite this forum being designed for that exact purpose.

YV has spelled it out for you. <ok> As he and others already had during the course of this thread. It was because the 'facts' were falling on deaf ears that I made my comment in the first place.

The new Stadium is a little more than a pipe dream. Sainsburys have signed contracts, land has been purchased, and millions have already been spent by Spurs in obtaining studies and planning permissions. YV has already given you good reasons as to why Bale of all players would not be sold to raise finance for it. That would be to fly in the face of all Levy's preparations so far.

Bale is constantly in the news re speculation that he will leave because it's a good story that fills newspapers and the oft quoted Bale comment that he want's CL football was accompanied by him to say that he wants to do that with Spurs.

Spurs have spent little or nothing in recent seasons on transfers, although the media would have you believe otherwise, they have been self financing. In other words we already have the kind of regime required for the building of the new stadium.

Spurs are now on a par with Arsenal on the football field and we have done that with half the turnover and half the wages. That's how effective Levy is. When we do get the new stadium and the increase in turnover that it will bring expect your worst nightmares to come true.
