Berbatov and Ruiz played in the same team against West Ham, I thought we did well in that game? I can see the reasoning for dropping one or the other though.

Game's over. Encouraging performance for me, starting with a spirited defense and some guile from Ruiz moving forward. For me, best performance in months.

Totally agree with the comments. It was a great game. I went for the first time in a long time and was very impressed with the way we put ourselves about. Once again we kept Van Persie quiet, he was barely in the game. Reither was superb, the guy is brilliant, did a job on Nani all night. Dejagah look like a real raw talent, quick and direct. Although he needs to work on delivering the ball into the area quicker, sometimes take too many touches. Schwarzer made some amazing saves. Agree about the Jonny Evans comments, he was giving Rodders a pretty hard time. I thnk if Berbatov had been playing we may have nicked it, one of his attributes is his ability to win and hold the ball up. If we lcked anything today that was it. Not to take anything away from a great performance and one that should give all us ans a big boost.

As a bit of info for anyone, you have to try the neutral end at some point. My dad is a Utd fan, he is great but clearly not perfect !!, and we went today in the neutral end. I was thinking that he would be in the minority but would be OK with me and my son. How wrong was I, my son and I were surrounded by hundreds of Utd fans. What was nice though was that there was no animousity from anyone and all us jumped up at our teams chances. It was so nice to be able to enjoy a game with both sets of fans, I congratulate you FFC as I think this is the only ground where this happens.

Thought you guys played a great game today. Played to win and if showed, unlike the FA cup game.

Don't want to burst your bubble but keep Nani quiet this season isn't something hard to do, he's been absolutely terrible! Although I do think Reither is a top top player, and Nani had probably his best game for us this season. Best of luck for the rest of the season!

What a game. I guess United just edged the first half but we looked - that word again - balanced, and it could have gone either way. I couldn’t believe it was 0-0 at half time and then of course the lights went out (well just before) -

Ours didn’t in the second though and we had the much better of the game - evidenced by Daveunited’s comment “probably United’s best defensive game of the season”. Unfortunately it was our defensive slip up that gave them all the points.

Loads of positives from the game and especially our approach and attitude which if we can produce consistently would easily make us a top ten team.

Agree with Surlyc and rosc about individual players, except Bryan - I thought his passing was poor. Urby looked really good in his 20 minutes or so; pacy, sharp passer (long and short), read the game. Riether undoubtedly our MOTM!

The sad news was of course Brede going off at half time - apparently he has an Achilles injury and will be out for at least two weeks. But for that who knows.

Anyway thoroughly enjoyable game and tough luck on the team.

Pretty much echoing what everyone else has said really, a very good performance, and desperately unlucky not to take anything from the game, two off the line, hit the post, and some outstanding saves from De Gea. I didn't think Ruiz was as good as some on here are suggesting, by no means as bad as his performance against West Ham but he was always caught in possession and lost us the ball, but an improvement on last week. If the decision is to drop either him or Berbatov I would drop Ruiz for the time being.

Does anyone know why Hangeland was taken off? I can't bear the thought of having SenderDross in defence anymore, another error for their goal.

Dejagah had a cracking game, a lot of energy on the right hand side and usually linked well with Riether, Urby looked very good when he came on and Riise had one of his better games this season, so a lot of positives to take from the game. If we play like that against Norwich we will steamroller them.

EDIT: Just seen 58's post regarding Hangeland, a huge shame, he was quality in the first half, and agree regarding Ruiz.

Not as many as there should have been. And as for RVP! He's actually quite a 'dirty B' but for reasons we can only surmise gets away with an awful lot.

Thought Djegah had his best game for us. Impressed with the effort, we deserved a goal. Gentleman Jim went aperpleptic when Senderos misjudged his interception for their goal.

Sorry still not impressed with Dejagah's defending, he can't tackle and defends the space but lets players just go past him, it puts pressure on the full backs. Not that impressed with his crosses into the box either. Senderos is a bit like Zat Knight he puts in a lot of effort, but you know he is going to make mistakes that can cost us. On the positives Riether was immense both in defense and going forward. Hugo ran the channels well and pulled their defenders out of position. Ruiz passing wasn't the best, but he carried the best threat (one off the post and another off the line), but they have to sort out the freekicks.
Thought the Ref Mr. Friend had another good game, being United I thought they'd get a lot more decisions, but was impressed in his fairness, which helped the game flow.

We've done well against teams who try and play football, but against Teams who put up a 9 man defense we struggle. So the Stoke game is going to be tough, as will be the Norwich away game.
We've not heard much about the Hangeland injury, first reports said tight hamstring, then another said Achilles problem. Thought we did well in the second half without Brede (apart from their Goal), but that could have been because we were attacking them more. Well miss Brede's arial dominance at corners, so Schwarzer will need to take charge ( but he's not great at come off his line at corners).

Despite having championed Dejagah before the game, I agree SuperBri. He kept turning back to take the man on again instead of getting a cross in. His final decision making certainly lets him down.

Separately, here are video highlights of the game, posted by hte Club -
