I agree with you, Sooper. Great to see TF's latest statement and I was delighted that the derisive tweets he received from half-wit fans was more than balanced up by the many right-minded fans who appreciate that we have a genuine chairman, talented in business if inexperienced in football business (he's learning fast, mind). But I think retaining a little scepticism is not unhealthy. What chairmen say and what they do are not always the same as facts change. If I had a £1 for every chairman who backed a manager unequivocably only to sack him shortly after... I'm glad TF made the statement, and I hope strongly that Harry stays if we go down. There are other good managers, but not many, and when I look at how long we were in the wilderness after Holloway, before Warnock took us up, I'd rather keep what we have.
How about this for a cure for the anxious If we go down so what we didn't do enough it's that easy But why o why worry about **** that hadn't happened yet? Do you live your lives like a risk assessment Live each day and smile that you are about to sleep each night We are a football club We still have the maths Grow up Love life you fools
The rollercoaster that is QPR is going to give us the ultimate ride over the next 13 games, hang on to your hats!...
Evening all. Not been online today so unsure if anyone else has already posted this; a super little piece from Uncle Tony in the Daily Telegraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...League-club-will-not-become-a-Portsmouth.html Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes says Premier League club 'will not become a Portsmouth' Tony Fernandes, the chairman of Queens Park Rangers, has strongly defended the clubâs spending in the January transfer window and denied he has acted ârecklesslyâ insisting there is a âsensibleâ business plan in place. The Malaysian entrepreneur said that if QPR were relegated from the Premier League it would not lead to a financial meltdown. âIâm an accountant, I run businesses. We are sensible with what we are doing,â Fernandes said, claiming that the clubâs wage bill had actually been reduced in January, because of the number of players who had gone out on loan, and despite the arrival of high-earners Christopher Samba, for £12.5 million, and Loïc Rémy for £7 million. On the pair, Fernandes denied that Samba was being paid as much as £100,000-a-week and insisted that the defender would stay at the club should they be relegated â and did have a clause in his contract reducing his salary. Rémy, however, would be sold. âIf you analyse it we havenât spent that much money on transfers and as for our wage bill, when I look at other clubs when they put their results out then ours is not too bad and there is now value in the squad,â Fernandes said. âI donât think there is any recklessness there.â Nevertheless he conceded that owning a football club was a âgambleâ. âNo one can guarantee anything in football,â he added. âBut you try to minimise the risk as much as possible and thatâs where the expertise of the management comes in and they say 'this is what we need to surviveâ and you look at it and if it makes sense then the board and myself support it. âAnyone who says we are gambling then, of course, we are.â It is the degree of that gamble that matters and Fernandes has been irked by the criticism he has faced â that he is playing fast and loose with the clubâs future and its finances, that relegation from the Premier League could lead to a Portsmouth-style administration.
Hello Cerns. All good thanks. Very busy weekend, hence took my eye off the forum and duplicated this thread. How about you?
“I’m an accountant, I run businesses. We are sensible with what we are doing,” Fernandes said, claiming that the club’s wage bill had actually been reduced in January, because of the number of players who had gone out on loan, and despite the arrival of high-earners Christopher Samba, for £12.5 million, and Loïc Rémy for £7 million." _________________________________ I'm not an accountant, but that does not add up.
I've only posted once. My wife and daughter hate me, they forced me to build an Ikea chest of drawers at 7 o'clock. Two hours later I have finished, minus a thumbnail and only having to dismantle the whole thing once, a record for me. It has clouded my day somewhat.
I sympathise with you stan....My mrs made me put up daughters desk/bed thing last year....it took me 2 days, almost smashed the bedroom window and the neighbour avoided me for weeks after due to the angry swearing that was coming from our place
Not sure what TF is on about regarding being an accountant apart from the money he's splashing around not being his but that of "a consortium".
I'm no money man but it doesn't take much or long to rattle a few figures out on paper and as the Americans say (which me missus loathes!) 'do the math'. What the sums say is that it'd cost both sets of owners an absolute fortune to depart the club. Mittal less so cos he picked his 30% or so up for a comparative song when he and lemon faced Ecclestone were still dancing, about £25m I heard - but who's gonna pay anything like that for a minority interest in a club that's invested as heavily as the Fernandes consortium in a club that can't currently compete at any level (top class football or otherwise)? Certainly not the Fernandes boys from what I can see - why bother unless some sort of destabilising feud sets in... TF and Co on the other hand clearly have a plan to both justify and recover a large part of their investment in the long term. Would be takeovers would need to be talking in the region of £120-150m for a controlling interest or closer to £200m for the full set. So as far as owners and 'project' are concerned, with no debts on the club signs are we're okay for the time being - even if (when) we go down. However, quality football management is crucial to ensure a squad strong enough to bring us straight back up again. West Ham had such a squad and they only just made it by the skin of their teeth. There's a world of difference between the £40-50m per year prem TV money and the £12m per year parachute payments to relegated clubs for the next 4 years. If I was TF, I'd invest in a director of football to ensure we're buying and selling the right players at the right prices for the foreseeable future. 'Arry's great at a lot of things, one of the best in the business, but he ain't known for his acumen with lower league prospects - and in the main part the more quality stock he does know about won't be up for second tier football - too little exposure. When alls said and done, QPR IS the Tony Fernandes consortium. Therefore, if you support QPR you MUST support the TFC. He is the visionary that has to take this little club into a future where might is right and anything less is bankrupt. Come on Rs fans, smell the coffee and join R block in singing it out loud: Tony Fernandes Tony Fernandes Tony Fernandes Tony Fernandes
he is the best chairman in the prem, i admire him and trust him, i bet west ham wish they got him instead of those 2 clowns
