Well I hope so. I honestly don't know what has happened. He was class at Liverpool. It's weird. Maybe it was the price tag... And us supporters were behind him for a very long time. Only recently have we turned on him slightly but we expect more from a person who we paid £50mil for! Having Falcao next season with Ba would be awesome. Use Torres in the Falcao deal.

  2. The price wasn't Torres' fault and should not be used as a weapon to expect more. He should be doing everything he can to earn the wages though, never mind self pride!

He seems to have lost interest and I don;t know why!? I don;t really think you can blame Chelsea as we have been behind him all the way... I honestly have no idea what has hapenned

  5. He was the same with us under Roy. He just started to find a bit of form under Kenny before joining you guys. Personally, I think its all in his head. Simple as it sounds, he used to play with a smile on his face but since he's stopped and the sulking/arguing as started his performances have not been the same.

We paid 50m for an overrated jessie who was quite clearly in decline after the world cup! What makes me even more annoyed is that we were rumoured to be in for Aguero but felt the price was too high due to him not being PL proven <doh>

F*ckin A, world class performance, Sturridge is going to be a Liverpool legend. I was dubious. I take it back. As someone else said, he's still got to get properly match fit and settle in the team, we can't wait to see it, the rest of the league will not be looking forward to that day. I also like his attitude, works hard, wants the ball, wants to play, he seems to be a religious guy doing that point to the sky, crossing his chest...whatever works my man, whatever works.

He was superb with the ball at his feet, never knew he had such close control! No one got close to taking the ball of him today, the ball was stuck to his feet :D

I was watching it and there were a few Man City fans at the same screen who couldn't believe how good he was, pulling them apart, at Chelsea he just never had a chance to show anything of his game and I think the feeling that the club didn't really believe in him was a factor. Now he's come to us, we've put faith in him, responsibility, expectation and he's delivering. It's good because he obviously likes a little pressure so hopefully can continue to put in performances like today when we push onto a higher level in the PL and CL.

  11. His hold up play was superb against Arsenal too. Ii was evidently different when Danny was taken off in both games!

  12. Definitely a top performance. Even to the point were I aid to my mates that we may have found our new Fernando Torres <yikes> (bit early to judge, I know!)

Apart from against United where he was obviously trying to impress, he's not been very greedy either. Suarez goal v Norwich showed this as well, could have easily controlloed it and turned and had a little run but just left the ball and allowed it to run through to Suarez.

He gets the ball, looks to try beat a man but if can't then keeps it simple. Also looks like he's got a decent pass & vision (2nd half when he held it up on halfway line, turned inside and played a brilliant ball out wide into space for Henderson I think it was).

Was a complete performance and only thing that would have topped it off would have been his shot in 2nd half to have gone in and won it for us.

Think he has more about him than Torres, more aspects to his game, and I mean the Torres who had that one amazing season with us, not the shadow now. Sturridge can find a nice pass/cross, likes to link up with the mid, is great when the ball's into his feet as has been said, and is also a box player/poacher. And to Bucks Blue, I really wanted Torres to come good and find that poise and clinical finishing again, unfortunately I just can't see it now, he doesn't look the same person and I say that as someone probably willing to give the guy more time than most. It's sad because what could've been a player for the ages for good reasons is now likely to be remembered for his failings.

At Chelsea he became quite selfish which was really annoying. Probably due to the fact that he wasn't getting much game time and when he did he wanted to try and impress, make the most of it and thus become slightly selfish but at Liverpool he has slotted in really well, getting game time, knows he is a valued member of the squad and is thus enjoying his footie!

Can't agree with your first point. As much as we dislike Torres and find it funny he goes through his slump he was the best striker in the World for 2 years when he first joined us. The guy had everything, he had raw pace, good touch, brilliant link up play, and an awesome finish with his right foot, left foot and head. Would score all types of goals, inside the box, running onto things, from crosses and outside the box. He also had a briliant attitude - remember agaisnt Chelsea he got kicked and kicked and just got up and laughed about it. How many foreign players do that in their first few games in England? Most kick up a fuss but he took it and loved it, and that's what struck fear into defenders, knowing they couldnt rattle him with a few challenges.

Sturridge would do well to get anywhere near what Torres was (and that's not to say he's not a good player) but to say he is better than the on form Torres is ridiculous in my opinion.

Too early to say! But he played very well today. Sharp and dangerous. Actually showed the madness of paying £35m for Carroll.

You deserved to win today. Dominated City in their own backyard. But unless you cut the expensive errors, 4th will remain a distant dream. Reina's action was just plain weird <ok>

  19. Agree with most of that. Only bit I don't 100% agree with is Torres having been the best, David Villa was preferred ahead of him for Spain. Close call though.
