Ok. Fresh from the winter window closing, lets ask the question. I asked you in the summer.... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/82706-Are-you-happy ... I now ask again. (I figure the answer might be different.)
Are you happy with our transfer dealings in this window? It has to be a split answer, I'd be surprised if anyone's disappointed with Holtby, so it can't be no, but it can't be yes just on the strength of that with the striker missout. So its the not sure answer for me.
Agree with Notso. Voted same way for same reason. Will close to being pissed off about the striker, but I'll keep my powder dry for now.
The need for striker cover was glaringly obvious, and today proved exactly why. Holtby looks like a great acquisition, but it's unacceptable that we didn't get some sort of striker reinforcement in. It wasn't a case of us being greedy over someone we didn't really need, it was a necessity. Therefore it's not good enough for me, despite how promising holtby looks.
Voted for the bottom option. It's a ridiculous situation that we've gotten ourselves into - if and when it costs us top 4 then I hope Levy comes out and apologises - he won't though. The thing that really annoys me - we've all heard about how Damiao is a really difficult deal to push through due to the 3rd parties etc. - considering that we've spent at least 2 windows linked and failed to get him this season (when we pushed hardest) then move on! Find another striker who'd be suitable! Damiao should not be the be all and end all for our striker targets. Find someone else who's easier to deal with!
Has to be No. 3 in the circumstances. The need for an experienced back up striker was glaringly obvious. But, as usual, everything was left until the last minute with the usual end result.
I voted for the middle option, although I don't like the wording. We have to be pleased with Holtby but relying on just two strikers is just too big a risk IMO. ATM we seem to be reliant on Bale and today it looked at times as if the team were too. He stood head and shoulders above the rest and that's worrying because it will lead him to believe he's too good for us. Now both strikers are out and next week we face NUFC who seem to have no problem in finding and replacing strikers, in fact they have made a business out of it Carrol & Ba! I would have thought that was right up Levy's street.
The issue regarding the strikers, is now a bit embarrassing, if you ask me. As Spurf has said., Spurs took a risk, but unfortunately that risk hasn't payed off. Ade was always likely to go to Africa and defoe normally has a few games off during the season. Should we have taken the risk on just two strikers for this season ?............NO We should've known better.
Voted for "yes" simply cos we're 4th and one point off third. Most of what I have to say about the team is negative, apart from that. Obvious things - striker situation, lack of dominating games, lack of creativity and goals from anyone other than Bale. But hopefully Ade and Holtby will help there. For me if ABV get's 4th this season he's done very, very well. With huge chunks of luck, maybe, but so far so good with regards league position. But concerns over the quality of performances and squad balance.
voted for pissed ,on the strength of not getting a striker, apart from that the other deals were good.
Leandro signed a 5 year deal in the summer of 2011, thats why Inter want a high fee. This will obviously drop with each passing window and would seem what Levy is waiting for. I think it was a gamble on Inters behalf to get him on a new deal in the hope someone would pay big bucks to get him out of it, but there's been no takers. Inter would also know our position this window (desperate!) so a 'Levy cheapy' was never on the cards, don't know why he bothered. Sturridge slipped through our fingers imo, the reported 12m looks a snip!
i voted the middle one. I'm happy with AVB and how the team has done especially with the changes last summer. I'm most definitely not happy with the striker situation. I wasn't happy on 1st Feb and i'm even less happy now. We now NEED a loan signing like Saha, desperate
