Yeah I have to say he hasn't been in great form for a couple of season now. Perhaps it is best that we cash in in the summer.
Agreed I can definitely see progress. Lets face it this year was never going to be our year......... that's next year
Liverpool were fantastic today if not for Reina's mistake definitely 3 points, made Man City look clueless and in the past 2 years not many teams have done that. The only thing is a draw is no good for both sides really, both sides 9 points from where they want to be, but great performance really was.
I feel i'm going to repeat what I said in the Arsenal match thread but I will say it anyway... If we had been offered a point before the game, we would have taken it. Only the fifth side to take anything away from the Etihad in 42 games. But it should have been three.
We were excellent today. Most importantly, we looked balanced. We broke at the right times, didn't sit too deep and played great passing football. Henderson again was fantastic, Lucas was back to his best as for Daniel Sturridge.. Probably his best ever performance for any team.
The trouble is we need a quality replacement. Jones shouldn't even be our reserve keeper - he can't even catch a ball, for me he's not even Championship quality. So it's either stick with Reina or get them both out and get 2 new ones in
Well we've got Reina till the end of the season so no point getting on his back - no one wants him to be replaced by Jones so need to stick with him and hope he gets back towards his best. Then come summer if we can get a decent replacement (Begovic has to seem the obvious choice given Butland's move to Stoke?) we can move him back to Spain and remember the good times.
But who? And what price would we get for Reina? I'd give Jones away for free, the useless twat. There are a few very very good keepers playing for 'lesser' teams in the PL - I'm sure they'd love a shot at Liverpool
Mancini saying we should have put the ball out Why, because Dzeko was having a hissy fit? How is he broken leg by the way? Assuming it was broken as he was laying on the floor for 2 minutes before he had to get up to take kick off again....
What's he talking about? Mancini should be livid with Dzeko, could have been helping his team out, instead he's on his arse (long after knowing the ball wasn't going to be kicked out)
Personally I think Begovic, but even he has some quality cover at Stoke. Sorensen is hardly shoddy and now they have Butland. I would be happy with Begovic and a good young and upcoming keeper.
We could get Begovic for the price of Reina and still have a couple of million left over for a reserve.
Take anything around £12-15mil for him depending on the price we'd have to pay for a replacement. Anyone in Spain would have him I'm sure... Beogovic, Mignolet, Vorm, Julio Cesar? They've probably been the best keepers this year. Vorm more last year due to injury and would all be reasonable shouts I'd think.
I thought we played brilliantly today, with the exception of Reina I think everyone else did their job well. Thinking of bringing back my match report threads.
Definitely bring them back Ze! There were a good read (The ones that I remember!) and would be good for those of us who miss certain games.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini said: "Before their first goal there was a big fault, if it happened against us it would be a red card but instead the referee didn't see anything. But in the end I feel that was the right result. Really/ You really think one of your players would have been sent off for that? Slur Alex speaks more sense than him sometimes....
