Absolute quality, and he's still far from his peak.

Once again we mugged Chelsea right off.

    From BBC live text

Mark a Chelsea fan on text via 81111: "It sickens me. It was bad enough giving Liverpool £50m for that waste of space Fernando Torres but to let them have the best English striker in the world for only £12m - Daniel Sturridge - (the same that we paid them for Raul Meireles) makes me think that owner Roman Abramovich is a secret Liverpool fan. I just hate him more and more everyday."

Apart from Joe Cole, we seem to do some good business with Chelsea <ok>

He was quality and has really hit the ground running.

Its fantastic how things have worked out with Torres/Chelsea.

I was so gutted when Torres left, but a few years on and he's nosedived as a player, Chelsea don't like him, and we get their young striker on the cheap.

    Lovely jubly!

Maybe we can do something similar with Downing? Sell him to them for £20mil and then buy Mata off them for £12mil? <whistle>

His decision making was top drawer this evening, he was a great outlet throughout the match. Did he give the ball away once?

I think he was seen as a Chelsea reserve, some wanted Ba. Now I think we all agree that we got their best striker and they got left with a dud and another with dodgy knees.

It's early days I know but that was the best that I have ever seen him play. He was sensational nothing more and nothing less!

Yes,classic case of a very promising young player getting 'lost' in Chelsea's mega squad.

Had a superb game today, there were a few contenders for MOM but he got the nod for me. Jury is still out (we all know how good strikers can completely lose confidence and look like a bag of ****e), he'll still have good patches and bad but got to give him credit for what he's done so far <ok>

His goals and Gerrards increasingly important contributions give opposition teams so much more to think about and should (in theory) free up some more space for Suarez too.

If Hendo, Sterling and even Coutinho can keep contributing a few and we can get someone to replace Drowning then we could have a massively potent strikeforce.

Now if we could only remember how to defend....

Can you not have taken Torres instead? Having Ba and Sturridge would have made a great partnership... More fool us. Well played today. Deserved the win

What makes it worse though is if i am not mistaken, when we sold Torres to Chelski, it left us short of a striker, and we were offered Sturridge then for £5 mill or on loan till end of season with an option to buy.
Instead we blew £35 mill on an injured Carroll.
