What a week! Two wins, including our first away win of the season and I think the first winning come-back we've witnessed too. Great performance vs Chelsea! Including a fine home debut by The Gouf - and Sissoko looks like an absolute bargain! Let's hope it's the start of something good.

As the title suggests there is a 'but'.

I was looking at the stats for our relegation season. After 25 games, we had.... 27 points. Just like now. However, we were in 13th place - currently we are 15th.

Of those 25 games, 12 had been at home, whereas this season we've had 13 already, so a higher ratio of away games yet to play.

Not looking to put a dampener on a cracking weekend, but let's just keep our feet on the ground. There is still a lot to do. We are not out of the mire just yet.

Momentum can be a huge factor in sport, so let's hope we can gather some in the right direction. This week has been a fantastic start and hopefully our fortunes are turning. But we need to keep supporting the team and the manager more than ever before!

    HOWAY THE LADS!

I too think caution is needed as we are not clear of the deadwood yet. One thing that does give me confidence though is the fact that there are about 8 clubs involved in the relegation battle this time round and none seem to be able to put a string of wins together so hopefully our back to back wins are the springboard to a top half finish.

sod that, we're gonna win the league next year!

We're 7 points from 8th place so anything is possible in terms of league placement.
I'd take 10th right now but would look forward to next year if... especially if we add Bony or someone like him.

True, however yesterday was 3 points I wrote off
After spurs we have some very winnable games
What pleased me about yesterday was not just the result
But the spirit, losing becomes addictive and it was starting to feel like a win would never come
Every one knows my thoughts on the lack of striking power up top
But yesterday does give me more confidence

Well put mate. Our midfield looks like scoring goals and I'd like to thing each of Sissoko, Cabs and HBA are good for at least 6-7 goals in total by the end of the year.

I think the position might be a bit deceiving; while we where in 13th we were only 4 points above the drop not the 6 we have today (and yes those 2 points would have been enough to stay up).

Now I've looked at the stats I'm not feeling so happy though goals scored 33 - 33, goals coincided 42 -44, wdl 6/9/10 - 7/6/12

We only won 7 games that season and we have already won that many this season. We have a better starting 11 now, a stronger squad and have played good football in the last couple of matches that we wouldn't have managed in the 2008-09 season on our best day.

In the relegation season of 88/89 we reacted to the threat of relegation by purchasing Sansom, Brock, Pingel and Rob McDonald

In the relegation season of 08/09 we reacted to the threat of relegation by purchasing Lovenkrands and Nolan

Sissoko Vs Brock, McDonald or Nolan?

    Debuchy Vs Sansom?

    Gouffran Vs Pingel?

We need to win four of these winnable games : Soton (h), Swansea (a), Fulham (h), Mackems (h), West Brom (a), West ham (a), QPR (a)

I say we can win the first four so after that it doesn't matter.

I don't wanna jinx it for us but I was caking it a week ago that the Mackems may actually win the derby.
I'm a bit more confident that we may sneak it now... but stranger things have happened.

Always a game I fancied us for to be honest. If we have a fully fit squad I'd fancy a good win. By the day before I'll have it a draw though! <laugh>
