Yes, but like us (and QPR), they've been relegated in the intervening time. If you look at the teams that have stayed up since the foundation of the PL, it's Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Villa. If Villa go, there's only six founding members who have been in the Premier League since its inception and much as it would be hilarious to see Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal go down in the same season, I very much doubt we're going to see it any time soon.
1. Man United 2. Man City 3. Chelsea 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal 6. Everton 7. Liverpool 8. Stoke 9. Swansea 10. West Brom 11. Newcastle 12. Sunderland 13. Norwich 14. West Ham 15. Fulham 16. Southampton 17. QPR 18. Reading 19. Wigan 20. Villa
To go down! QPR (and good riddance to them) and then two from the following - Villa, Wigan, Ourselves, Norwich. I am not convinced by Sunderland or Stoke but they have the points in the bag. I can see Reading hauling themselves comfortably clear!! It'll be a total between 38 and 41 for the 17th placed team!
I think their recent aquisitions will keep them out of trouble. Plus they have undoubtable class in Berbatov and Ruiz!! But they could slip if they don't gel! PS: What has happened to Bobby Zamora at QPR? He was fantastic at Fulham but has slipped off the radar since his transfer across West London proving the old saying that the "grass isn't always greener on the other side."
I think QPR and Vila look most likely to go down. Reading are looking better recently especially if Le Fondre keeps scoring from the bench, so they will escape. The last relegation slot is a tough call, Wigan are candidates, and much as its sad to say - considering all the words of support we received from their fans when we were promoted - I think Norwich are also real danger of being dragged in to the fight. Newcastle have some potentially tough matches and european football distractions so they might also be dragged in. Saints are capable of taking points from every single one of our last games, although Swansea and Spurs will be tough, but I think we should stay up. We will be 17th or higher if we start hitting form.
1 Man Utd 2 Man City 3 Arsenal 4 Chelsea 5 Spurs 6 Everton 7 Liverpool 8 Newcastle 9 Swansea 10 Saints 11 West Brom 12 Stoke 13 Fulham 14 Sunderland 15 Reading 16 West Ham 17 Norwich 18 Wigan 19 Villa 20 QPR
I thought this might be worth another look a month on. The predictor ends with 6 teams having 1 game remaining, but I don't know who has to play whom. The 6 teams are Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Fulham, West Ham and Wigan Here's how I have it with the games provided... 16..Aston Villa.........38...-29...37 17..Southampton.....38...-16...36 --------------------------------- 18..Wigan Athletic....37...-30...34 19R.Reading............38...-28...33 20R.QPR.................38...-30...32
Trouble is I don't know who their remaining game is against. As long as it isn't West ham or Fulham you're as good as safe
Still sticking to my 14th place finish......It is ours to lose.........We just need a couple or three good results...........not impossible!
I could only be arsed to put Saints results in the predictor, I have us on 38 points. Might be enough.
No one's got the balls to have us in the bottom 3. I honestly think we're going to go to rat **** in the last 4 or 5 games and go down about 1 or 2 points from safety. Just hope I'm wrong.
Mate with a prediction like that I think you need to duck under the covers.................Most predict around 37/38points reasonably sure that should be enough unless one of the teams below us go on an incredible run. Which I acknowledge could happen very rare though.
I don't where you get your illogical pessimism from, or do you have so much faith that every team below us is suddenly going to come good..? They've all been doing worse than us all season, so what's going to change there..?
This is is what I got trying to be fair and I am normally pessimistic: 3 wins 2 draws 4 losses (dunno what happened to the 10th game) Wigan still one to play. Looks unrealistic to me, but I have our next win against West Ham (Sorry trixter). Worth noting, at no point did I have us more than 3 above the line except the end....
