Big win for Cardiff yesterday which all but seals the title I think but I was wondering what Cardiff/opposing fans actually think to their team and the football they play? I watched the Leeds v Cardiff game and I have to say I thought both teams were very ordinary. I've seen Cardiff a few times this season now, including at the KP where we completely dominated but lost (if only we had Wood in the side then) and I have to say i've not been at all impressed. I think they defend well as a team and get everyone behind the ball and the few chances they seem to get they score so really you can't take anything away from that but the best team in the league? Certainly the best at grinding out results and of course the most consistent but I don't think they're the best footballing side in the league. They remind me of the 1-0 win boring boring (albeit successful) Arsenal team, successful but not exciting at all. I wonder if we had the team we have now from the start of the season would they still be 10 points clear or would the gap be a lot tighter or would we even be top? Let's face it, Charlton, Blackburn and Wolves away we should have won, Forest and Cardiff at home we should have won and I think our team at present would have won those games. I think Cardiff and Leicester are the two best teams in the league but we definitely play the better, more attractive and more exciting football, in my opinion.
Obviously so, we are the third best team in the league, but when we go above you we will be the 2nd best team in the league, and you will be the 3rd!
I think the thing is are they the best at winning and that's all there is to it. Does that make them the best? You probably have to concede that they are, despite the fact they may not look it.
It depends how you look at things Cardiff have the most points so therefore they are the best. I would say they have been consistently good but nothing special. Buts thats all whats required Best entertainment you could say is us with us having the best goal difference and having exciting players like Knockaert. If you looked at all the teams at the start of the season and was asked to judge them on paper you would be looking at the relegated teams as some of the best but they have all failed miserably
I agree, can't argue with the fact they're 10 points clear and they have definitely been the best at winning games but Chelsea won the Champions League last season, would anyone say they're the best team in Europe?
Cardiff havent had their bad patch yet, it will bite them in the ass, good luck for the rest of the season guys
No they haven't but they keep winning even though they're nothing special. We had 65% possession, hit the bar three times, missed a load of sitters and lost 0-1 in a game that could and should have been a similar scoreline to Ipswich and Huddersfield. They don't play good football and don't dominate teams but somehow keep winning games, I don't really see that changing too much.
Jesus seriously you lot need to take those blinkers off there 10 points clear you ****ing idiots ????? Most of you will watch Leicester every week so will be incredibly bias but how on earth can you ask a question like this when the team at top is so far ahead !!
Jesus steady on Fettis, who rattled your cage count to 10 and take a few deep breaths then go lay down in a dark room for a while. Good lad. Lol
because we're all yet to see them play as well as we have played this season. We obviously have more off days and more 'on' days whereas they have been consistently good enough to beat the other side. They've done exactly what you need to do to win this league and thats been............. ...consistently good enough to beat the other side.
I'm raising a debate based on the fact that they're not (or don't appear to be) a good footballing side, they don't seem to pass the ball around very well, don't keep possession and don't seem to play well but as has been mentioned, they do enough to win whereas we play exciting football, have hammered teams this season, have the best goal difference in the league and with the exception of Leeds away and Palace at home have played well enough and created enough chances to have won every other game but due to poor finishing (prior to signing Wood) have come away from games with less than we've deserved. Cardiff have also had a settled side all season whereas we've brought in a few players that have vastly improved the team therefore while Cardiff are 10 points clear, I wonder if we'd had this team from the start of the season would they be so far ahead? I don't think they would, in fact I believe that if we had this team from the start of the season we would have beaten Charlton, Blackburn, Wolves, Forest and Cardiff which would have given us an extra 14 points. They were all games where we were by far the better team and should and arguably would have won had we had the quality of Wood instead of the very ordinary Vardy. I was/am more interested to read the views of the Cardiff fans to see what they think because it may well be that they do play good football and i've just not seen them play well.
Hate that club with a passion. Wanted us to have ten points deducted, cheated in play-off semi against us, have been lucky this season, sold their soul by playing in red and shouldn't even be in the English League
- I've still got a photo of Kermorgant by my bed. Goodnight Jan, and bless you my son............ Apart from these two wallys above, a decent thread from the OP. On many occasions this season, we've not played as well as we can but still won the games. As someone said above, that's all you need to do - 10 pints clear is the proof. We can and have played some wonderful stuff like the 4-1 drubbing we gave Blackburn up there, with 4-0 and 3-0 hammerings of Burnley and Blackpool at home. We have some excellent midfield players and a solid back 4 set up that serve us well. Up front, we've lacked a cutting edge and our goals have come from all over the park - we do not rely on a high scoring front man. Our top scorer Helguson has only got 8, and he hasn't scored since last November! Getting Fraizer Campbell for the second half of the season could well prove a masterstroke from Malky - we've definitely missed Maynard and Fraizer made a good start yesterday. Consistency is the answer. Grinding out results may not be pretty, but it's pretty effective - that's the difference. I'd rather be where we are in the table than anyone else and I'll take that any way it comes. The reason? Because every club toward the top in the Championship doesn't want to be playing again there next season.
Not here to argue with you but if your "facts" were true, I really can't see how we would be on top. I have to say that we have played some very good controlled football all season with the odd moment of creative flair to get us wins.I would also say I do enjoy watching you guys play, and think you will go up this season. I won't be celebrating anything until the season is done and dusted.
so far we are by far the best team in the league for now. 10 points prove that. we can play some excellent football e.g the goals we scored against blackburn were so well created and finished off without having as sparkey says and out and out striker so that proves the quality we have with in the squad. i watched the last 20 mins of your game against wolves and wasn't overly impressed by you boys and actually thought wolves deserved a point but i'm still not going to go on record and say you can't play good football because i haven not seen enough of your games to make that evaluation. only thing i can do is look at the table and it seems we can win pretty and win ugly that's what makes champions. whether we will hang on? who knows but its starting to look likely. anyway decent post
Usual knobs posting above. Its the Football League not the English League so get your facts right sunshine before showing everyone what a racist idiot you are. Those 2 posts apart some very valid discussion points made. As Sparkey says we have looked very good in some games but in others we have had to grind out results. However, if we are that boring how come we have scored the same number of goals as Leicester and only Palace and Watford have scored more? Perversely while Leicester are 10 points behind they have conceded 6 fewer goals than us and have the best defensive record in the division. I guess we have managed to turn more close games in our favour, racked up more wins and that is the difference. 2 good sides at this level and if both can maintain their consistency then should both go up automatically. However, Hull, Watford and Palace have the potential to spoil the party and challenge in the weeks ahead. Middlesboro seem to be falling away and I don't see anyone else from the pack coming through to challenge. I hope we are as good as up by the time Leicester visit us in April.
