He got it wrong today. If that was a Hughes formation, I would have said this, so it's only fair to call HR out.

One up front, at home, against ****ing Norwich, using ****ing Mackie, who is not equipped to play that role. Cisse being loaned out, whilst retaining Bothroyd and DJ was always the wrong decision imo. Remy is now injured and, oh look!!
If we're going to play one up front it has to be with a 4-2-3-1, where the front 4 attack the box regularly, as in our Championship winning year. This 4-4-1-1 won't do it. It left us out-numbered in the middle against their central 3 and was every bit as bad a decision as Hughes's was against West Ham.
It improved when Zamora came on as we went to a genuine 4-4-2, which is at least attacking. Apparently though, BZ can't play more than about 30 mins each game till the end of the season.
I really can't believe we started this game with one up front in that formation, when we really had to get the win!!

    Clueless anyone?

We would have started with 2 up front if Zamora was fit enough to play 90 minutes.

Sorry mate.....but what kind of answer is that? We knew BZ wasn't fit enough, so play Betty, with 3 attacking players behind him....ie:Taarabt, Townsend and Mackie. Or play 4-4-2 from the start with Betty and Mackie or Betty and DJ or Betty and taarabt. Why 4-4-1-1 at home when we needed to win?

Well said Col! Not one for formation talk normally, but we started with a far too negative formation today. Should have started with Betty and DJ up front.

I know what you're thinking though I reckon.

I'm not calling Harry a bad coach, as I believe he's a good one. I just think, for the purposes of fairness, it is reasonable to criticise him for playing one up front at home against Norwich and getting (IMO) the formation as wrong as Hughes used to.

Exactly. I'm not a big fan of 4-4-2, but it was Norwich at home FFS!

The difference is, with Hughes, we would have lost.

Sorry, mine was a lazy response. I hadn't read your OT in full.

Bothroyd is not the answer or even part of the answer. Harry clearly does not fancy DJ. The big mistake made was that we didn't do enough to get Odemwingie over the line or better still Crouch.

The thin difference between success and failure . I thought I would see rubbish on here as I have just come out of Westfield having watched a movie after the game

I don't agree and all this like my sons attitude at the moment stinks

OK we dropped two points and our target is 2 more so what

    The maths is still alive

We look solid that has taken time
Of course we should of nicked it

The only odd thing I don't know about is Fabio

Harold to me played his hand well

This is just a load of rubbish based on our dropping of two and other results

It stinks exactly of the **** that stopped the crowd of singing

There is nothing wrong in my camp

The important time to get out is at the end of this

Grow a pair if you are worried

You're right about the crowd Dave....S block was like a morgue!!!!
IMO you're wrong to say that Harry got it right though. Playing a negative line up against Norwich at home, in a game we needed desperately to win was a mistake. We were over-run in midfield for much of the game, something I'm sure someone with your footballing knowledge would have noticed.

We were getting kicked off the park first half no doubt as the ball was down the other end all first half

It looked new a bit fragile but second half he looked a lot better

Z6 and to the right of me were trying to shut up those bloody yellow birds and the pen didn't go in

I am certain if it had we would of added a few more

    Flood gates will open

    Jenas touch is very assured

    Townsend looks very good

I feel more than ever we will crack this

I have only just looked at scores

We have to let Harold do his stuff

    What's the story re Fabio?

I didn't see anything too wrong with the set up today. We attacked in droves in the second half and had many chances. Norwich had some good chances too so playing more open might have got us on the break. Bothroyd's a fu*king joke. Why would we start with someone who the Sheffield Wednesday fans nearly lynched only a month ago? And who would you play Campbell ahead of?

Look, anyone saying that Redknapp's a defensive Coach needs to have their head dunked in ice cold water for two straight minutes. He loves playing attacking football but he just ain't got the "equipment" to that right now. Remy is injured and the rest of 'em are sh*t. He played the best team he could given the circumstances and if that show pony had of despatched the penalty that was given him, this silly thread wouldn't have even been started.

I can see where your coming from col but I can also see where Arry's coming from. See out the first half & keep it tight then give it a go second half. I recon he'd rather do that then play strikers (Betty/DJ) he has no faith/trust in to do a job. I'd rather not see Betty in Hoops again, he plays like he couldn't give a ****!

We weren't over run we weren't playing very well and Norwich got straight into popping it about ... The truth is they can play a bit

Still after the break we went for it a lot better and so I say judge us then as we pissed all over them

    Cesar save was brilliant

I think we will better and better from now on

We were out-numbered in central midfield 2 against 3.

Indeed he is, but we've been left with him whilst loaning out Cisse.
It may have been the best team he could pick, but it definitely wasn't the best formation.
DJ with Mackie would have at least made us more attacking....or Taarabt up with Mackie.

It was a case of numbers Col we stood off and allowed them to pop it around when you do that your confidence grows . Notice when Jenas came on that is a midfield player
    Zip zip pop

I agree with you 100% that we need points we are rangers we will get them don't worry mate

Jenas looked very good. I'd like him to start games. Proper player if he can stay fit imo.
