Sanctimony shouldn't really go down well anywhere, as it's an intrinsically negative trait. But I don't really have any interest in whether what I say goes down well or not. I think it's in everyone's best interest to be bluntly honest with their opinions, no matter how poorly they may be received by their audience, so long as those opinions are formed from assessing all information accessible to you, including the contrary opinions of others.

Too many people express what I would say are malformed opinions online, not seeking a debate, and not interested in listening to the views of others, but merely wishing to vent frustration or seek some sort of validation from anonymous strangers. That's the problem I have with too many people on here, especially just after disappointing results. They post opinions which they form while their emotions are getting the better of their logic, and often they regret those posts once they've calmed down and taken some time to consider the facts.

Joe has a point. I have always felt that we should have a posting delay of 24 hours after we lose a game or a lead. I would call it the "rage buffer":)

Very, very true, and I totally agree. But at the same time, you're very prone to posting sarcastic, digg-ish, comments. So swings and roundabouts.

It is a good point, but football gets the emotions running (one of the reasons why its so enjoyable) and people just want to vent their frustration ASAP sometimes, myself included. Also, some people actually come on and may calm down due to others working with the logic, so no harm done really.

    There are limits obviously!

I was as gutted as anyone earlier. BUT, it was an individual display.

However, I am pleased by TEAM performances the last couple of games. Davis has really stepped up and Lallana is back.

Hopeful of seeing Fonte and Forren soon.

Just got back to in laws after game. I was sat in the front row and really couldn't follow the game. After the game I said to father in law that a draw was probably about right and he told me I must be joking as we were miles better than them. I can't honestly comment as it was so hard to follow.

I felt we didn't turn up for an hour and then started to play.

And I'm entitled to do so. At least my comments are always thought out. To be honest, if anyone is getting genuinely offended by words from an anonymous stranger on an internet forum, then that's their problem. They need thicker skin. I stand by my right to take sarcastic digs at people if I should so choose, though I would like to add that I never choose to do so without provocation.

Sorry FLT, we absolutely dominated the game?
Have a look at the stats on BBC
If Ramirez and Snidders had taken their straight forward chances we would have been out of sight

I find there are far better tools out there for venting one's frustration than a keyboard. Don't get me wrong, I tend to shout and swear plenty whenever we concede a goal or get a poor result, but I don't feel the need to then write those words down.

Fair enough, it's hard not to concede that it's pointless swearing at a keyboard, but......people probably do it because they know that others will be feelling the same immediate frustration, so maybe it works as a kind of consolidation of misery, but no, it isn't constructive and it's better to be positive where possible.

I really don't understand the immediate anger and frustration some people get. Just take a deep breath and remember it's only football, especially when it's not actually a bad result, like today.

I don't even get angry and sweary when we concede. Just a bit disappointed.

It was a bad result considering the position we were in with 5 minutes to go, and how much we dominated the game.

I haven't sworn or got angry about it, that's my balanced assessment. It's not a terrible result, but it isn't a good one I don't think.

I should be the most pissed off out of all of you. I won best seller in Southampton and have to go to a crappy awards ceremony, what makes it worse is I have to go watch that pile of **** musical Viva Forever after as a 'reward'.

You can't get worse then that!!!!!!!!

Isn't that football though....? Not taking the chances when they come....how many times have you heard they should have been 4 up by now?
As for opinions some opinions are more of a reaction immediately after a game for instance. People should not be surprised if opinions are changed after a while when they let things sink in. Perhaps after reading comments and views they often concede perhaps they got it wrong first time round. What is wrong with that? People that like to make snide remarks or insult someone for conceding to other ideas should not be surprised when when these remarks are returned 4 fold.
Some opinions are not up for debate it is true.....sadly at least but thankfully most are and we are beginning to debate a lot more on the Saints Forum.
