John maddens a great commentator, been there and done it as a player and a coach. Kevin cadle a great host and the guy Jeff is excellent too. The ex pro's they have on are intelligent and articulate. So in essence **** off, you don't get it great thanks for that.
Actually mardi gras is frog for fat tuesday which is the day you are supposed to eat and drink as much as you can because you are supposed to fast for the next 40 days, down here its cakes and soups and plenty of beer in England its pancakes supposed to be 40 days before easter I think. Its a hell of a party thats all I got to say about it and the superbowl is topical and a lot of people in the UK like it now. Like I say its no real big deal for me but I'm a kid from Hessle Rd so you know if a party is going on I'm going to be there
Already posted once if you don't like the ****ing game **** off and don't post on it it's not for you yet you still stick your oar in. Great ta goodbye.
In fairness, baseball is pretty big in Japan. I think the Yanks invited the Japs to play them, got beat and haven't bothered since Basketball is popular in a lot of Eastern European nations, but it was invented by a Canadian so it doesn't really count.
I knew there was something funny about Chazz's surname, he's a NAZI! Oi stop trying to oppress us ya bastard, we have a British right to post on this thread! The Superbowl is just an excuse for large companies to pay over the odds for ****e adverts, only interrupted by a bunch of ****ters throwing a ball and running around in a suit of armour.
Fair enough. Your last sentence raises a good point. I don't think America actually invented Baseball either. Not that it matters though.
I'll go watch american football and I quite like baseball but its just a day out for me, hell I will go to the racetrack to watch horse racing which to me is a most ridiculous kind of sporting event but its not like watching Hull City thats the only sport I really enjoy, oh and I wouldn't cross the street to see a rugby league game but if some people like it then let them get on with it
To say Baseball isnt out side the states is a little wrong. Japan has a huge league and Cuba also has a really good league and many baseball players come from central and south america. Certainly not played everywhere but it is more than just in the US.
So its played by 3 nations, out of how many? I take your point about not JUST the US but honestly, it might as well be.
Just about every south and central american country has a "league" they just arnt very good leagues. I would think probably 10% of the mlb players are from outside the US. Before mexico erupted into the cartel war there was serious conversations going on about expanding the mlb into mexico city. Clearly it is played in Canada as well. I would say that it is a western hemisphere sport. I just looked it up and there are 564 professional baseball players in the US from the Dominican Republic alone.
I feel i'll start up another argument with this comment, but.... The one thing that gets on my wick the most is that they call it American FOOTBALL.
Oh I'm fine with that, it's like American English. Just means it's Football for Dummies, in the same way their language is just English for Dummies too. I'm worried about Chazz tbh, he ain't responded in ages, so either he's gone for some more White Lightning or he popped a bad can and is drowning on his own vomit!
Baseball is hugely popular in Latin America and South East Asia. It's an interesting game. American football is total crap...played by a bunch of thugs. I stopped watching 40 years ago it was so boring. No wonder its played nowhere else. Definitely wont be watching the so-called "Super Bowl".
I am a big fan of american sports and SF in general. Giants and 49ers mega fan. This dates back to my visits there as a kid. I even went on to play baseball in my teens. It's typical of us english to rubbish their sport and I wouldn't even try to compare rugby with american football. The balls have similar shapes (not even close in real life) and that's about as far as the resemblance go. People have a go at the padding, yet NFL players sustain far worse injuries (despite the padding) than rugby players, proving that the sport is quite substantially more violent. Not a huge fan of hockey and basketball but don't mind them. I'd pick baseball over cricket any single day of the week. American sports are great imo a lot more drama. Every one of their sports rely on the last few seconds of the game... A basketball team can be down 8 points with 50 seconds left and still win the game (with some luck) Same with every other sport. You can be losing 10-0 for 8 innings in baseball and win it 11-10 in the last inning. I reckon most people that say they are **** haven't even watched a full game or understand all the rules.
Welcome to my thread . I love watching any sport. Once you start you get into the psychology of it. I'm sure i read Joe Montana wasnt thought to be a great player in the draft. Didnt have a strong arm, not very mobile. Probably the greatest ever QB as it turned out. Its things like that that fascinate me about sport, any sport.
So what? I've seen Inter Milan come from 2-0 down in the 90th minute to win 3-2. I've seen Manchester United win the biggest trophy in club football with two goals in the last minute. It's not something peculiar to Yank 'sports'.
actually Inter was in the 88th minute when was that? 1999 and 2005? so it happens twice in 14 years? that kind of drama happens multiple times a week in american sports. The other thing I like about american sports is there are (technically) no draws. Penalty shootouts are frequent in hockey and overtime last gasp wins regular occurrence in basketball and NFL. Anyways, why the **** are you on this thread if you don't like the sports? I thought you bid us adieu?
I don't mean to be a prick, but if it is a common scene every week then it is really that dramatic? I mean, surely it would seem like a usual and likely thing to see?
