Very good result - needed to ensure we didn't have a mini slump after tuesday. A lot of non Watford fans question whether the loan lads have their hearts in it. i think they're doing their responding on the pitch. Very, very happy with that.

Quite ironic that in the programme there was a report from a win we had in the 82/83 season where GT suggested we weren't at our best and I felt that was the case today..

Certainly not our usual excellence in terms of passing against a side who looked quite useful considering their position for a whille...until they made the 3 changes which played into our hands.

Deeney and Vydra worked well against and the midfield was fairly solid.

Penalty was soft BUT Pudli was a little rash considering how players go down at the slightest of touches in such situations.

Ref was pretty shocking geerally...gave a foul every time somebody got touched and on one occasion he played on for Bolton who had a shot and then pulled the play back!

The sort of girtty, determined win the press no doubt felt our overseas players couldn't produce..

Useful win against a side we usually struggle against - when peole question our ability they should remember Bolton were in the Prem a year ago. No side is now going to let us have free reign but will be far more defensive and careful. Good win

yes he did...barely an acknowledgement of his goal...which imho wasn't a penalty.

very strange, but the ref constantly made them...he was awful and if there was a red card for refs, he definitely deserved one!

    Absolutely.

Vydra was his usual good self, very impressive and Chalobah had a good game, but for me, the MotM was Cassetti...his crossing is so accurate most of the time, and he even showed a lot of pace chasing the ball today...first class performance from him. To be honest, for the first 15 minutes i thought we were going to see another 'bristol game'...we took a long time to get going, but once we did, there was only really one team that looked like scoring. The penalty was very soft, and as Dan will more than likely point out, when the identical foul happened outside the box at the other end, it didn't even get a free kick. By the end of the match the home fans were singing about Bolton having 12 men...it was one of those games...but..all in all a good 3 points against a recent prem side who had obviously had Prem training in diving.

    well done the boys! COYH!

I think they showed today that they are well up for it and are willing to put their bodies on the line for their and our club.

I agree with 99% of that I just disagree that it was a soft pen. It was never a penalty, Pudil went shoulder to shoulder and simply out-muscled his opponent. This was happening everywhere on the pitch, yet the ref let it go. The worst part was the inconsistency, ok they make a mistake, but to be inconsistent really gets my goat. I would also like to see something done against the number of times the Bolton players threw elbows at us. Pratley and Alonso where the worst culprits, they would wait for a player to come up behind them and then swing the elbow back towards the player. One of them did connect with Pudil in the second half and he ended up on the deck. The ref somehow conspired to miss this completely an let play go on with Pudil flat out.

Very nervous before this game and not certain that we could click back into gear after the faux pas in the west country. Once 3CR got themselves sorted after 15 minutes I was more than glad to hear Jon Marks. That Bolton commentator was dire and to think that the fans oop there have to put up with that on a regular basis. Several minutes after an event he started to talk about it, but even then sounded as if he had been taking something to keep his blood pressure under control. Truly grim. :)

Strangely, whenever i listen to other clubs' version of JM, they always sound like that. We are so lucky to have Jon Marks!

Very happy with that. Thought we got off to a slow start, but ultimately worth the win. Ref was abysmal. How he missed the elbow that laid out Pudil I don't know. I'm sure he was making it up as he went along.

TWO ONE TO THE GOLDEN BOYS< TWO ONE TO THE GOLDEN BOYSSSSSS.

Ok, better late than never but happy to get this result. We look to be in a good position and in the pack to chase third. Dreamland.

I am not sure IF we can win the play offs or go up automatically.

However, I'd be gutted if we didn't at least finish in the play offs now. What do you all think?

Not our best performance today but a deserved win. Bolton allowed both Cassetti and Pudil a lot of space today and both made good use of it. We weren't at the races for the first 20 minutes or so and the penalty was soft. Vydra's cool finish emphasised his growing confidence and Abdi and Battochio at last began to get a foothold in the game. Chalobah struck some exquisite passes but also looked tired at times and I thought Hogg might have replaced him sooner. Hall worries me a little. His experience and ability to organise is no doubt useful but there are times when he looks cumbersome and easily left flat-footed.

On a minor note, Cassetti's booking was unnecessary, not so much because the Bolton player was the aggressor but because he allowed himself to be drawn into a pointless confrontation about nothing which he then seemed happy to sustain for several minutes afterwards. It looked out of character and I think GZ might have a word.

AS I can't get to games. I hope you don't mind me asking questions about the highlighted parts above.

    1. Is Hall a bit slow then? Is that his weakness?

    2. Have the stupid bookings been on a doownturn?

    Thanks in advance.

Phew - glad that ones over - I didn't have a good feeling about this game but we won. Bolton were okay but I thought quite dirty especially in the second half. They like a dive or two as well. The penalty was 50/50 in my view but Vydra's goal was class.

    Don't mind at all, Mex.

Hall does well against big forwards in aerial duels and close to his own goal. Further up the field he looks vulnerable against ippier forwards and isn't the quickest to get back to defensive positions. He does organise the defensive line well though.

As for Cassetti, I think the current side is generally well disciplined and most of the bookings we do get are for mistimed tackles. That's why his booking today was unusual. He got dragged into a bit of a feud which he could easily have avoided.
