It was clearly a foul and therefore clearly a penalty, the only reason anyone is questioning it is because it was awarded to Man Utd, had it been awarded to anyone else no-one would care. As for the Man Utd players surrounding the referee, I notice that no-one has mentioned the Blackburn players surrounding the referee after he had awarded the penalty, shock horror.
Sorry mate, it was a dive, all other discussion irrelevant as such on that matter, hernandez even did a terrible job of draging his leg into hte keeper as the replay clearly shows. all players at the lino should have been booked, for what that is worth? All over now none of it matters. it's 19 All players go to the ref on dodgy pen awards, all teams. It hadn't been awarded yet united players surrounded the lino to GET a decision, that is the difference
Even Robinson knew straight away what he had done. The only thing in question was whether Hernandez would of reached the ball. Hence why the ref went to the linesman.
I am sorry folks, the only real contact was when the ball was out, hence goal kick and no pen, and there was no way near enough contact to bring down hernandez, physically weak as he is.
It was about as blatent a foul as you get from a goalkeeper Are you blind, stupid or just on a windup?
Yet Paul Scholes and other players get sent off for late tackles after the ball has gone. Oh sorry, did I just completely destroy your opinion on the matter. Sorry.
To be fair, no wum, I looked at it again, I did watch the game and replays, as with Berba's penalty against us no agreement, so lets not bother Both were dives in my eyes, not yours, a time old problem we have but does it matter, 19? lol I dont come on here, especially to wum. I am on today in respect of the record falling, we held it for long enough so fair cop, it's finally fallen.
All other discussion irrelevant? You appear to have Benitezitis, i.e. confusing your opinion with FAHKTS! So no players from other teams ever surround the ref then he's conferring with his linesman? None at all? Yeah, right. Every team would have done the same thing in the same situation, bar none. It doesn't make it right, and I agree players should be booked for hanging around when the ref tells them to go away, but trying to make out United are the worst offenders in this area is just plain BS.
They are the worst offenders. They've been doing it for years so take your scum tinted glasses off.Ferguson claims they get no decisions, they get plenty of dubious ones.
It was one of those borderline ones where a player plays for the penalty by letting the goalkeeper hit them. in the end I don't think it comes down to whether there is intent to dive, just who is more responsible in knocking the player over. Very tricky to call though, I wouldn't be able to blame the ref for any decision he could have made.
Thought it was a pen myself. And I don't blame the players for surrounding the ref, it was a decision that sealed the title emotions are bound to run high.
I think if any decent striker in the world found themselves in that position, with the keeper diving at their feet and making it impossible for them to control or play the ball, they'd have looked for a pen. Bigger and stronger players than Hernandez have collapsed in a heap with much less contact and much more simulation. And at the end of the day the keeper is the one most to blame - all keepers are taught never to dive at the feet of a player unless you are sure you're going to get the ball. As soon as you throw yourself in like that you are asking for trouble, particularly when the player is probably going nowhere.
Awww, are the Liverpool fans still crying over being overhauled by United? Simple, get over it. With the exception og Luvgonzo who actually seems like a rational guy. And yes, it was a penno.
