We have exactly one loss in our seven games against the teams sitting 15th-20th. We've been fantastic in our six-pointers, so to complain about only the second time we've failed to win against our rivals as if it's going to send us down is absurd. 16 points from 21 available now.
Well, to be fair we are missing both Fonte and Forren and most believe they'll be our first choice centre backs. I think both Wigan goals came from corners and presumably Fonte, as the senior member of the defence and vice captain, usually plays a big part in organising things when we're defending set pieces. The fact people are disappointed we haven't pulled away from the bottom few sides when we're in the middle of a tough run against some of the best sides in the league (and Wigan) says a lot about how well we've been playing.
The frustrating things is that we have played away twice in a week, dominated both games and got one point to show for all our efforts!
I am at work so not able to follow game, just checking in here to see full time scores. I said before the game that i would be happy with a point. We got a point, i am happy. However, judging by the comments on here we played well enough to easily deserve all three. Think i may avoid match of day tonight, currently i am happy with the point having not seen the game, will i make myself sad if i watch the highlights and realise that this is 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained? Think i will avoid and remain blissfully happy. Much better to be ignorant and happy...
Look people, we are playing better and better every game. We will be fine. Those stupid defensive errors will be first on the training agenda next week, and we have a new CB to come in don't forget. The other point to remember is that we went ahead after making an attacking substitution which worked. Credit to MP for that. A huge shame we couldn't hang on but that was another fantastic performance, bar two stupid mistakes which cost us the win. As was said above, **** happens.
I followed it with the statement because I know what people on this forum are like. 6 or 7 points for sure. Need to beat QPR and either newc or norwich. Anything against man city will be an unlikely bonus
I will battle through MOTD but in truth it is just to watch aston villa, but seeing McDermotts smug little face will probably piss me off, does his voice annoy anyone else?
We absolutely dominated the game, it was difficult to tell who was at home. Some very good performances from JRod, Rickie, Luke and Corky but both Ramirez and Punch were poor. Time to drop both of them and bring in Davis and Lalana me thinks
Interesting that Ramirez is only lasting half a ruddy game.............Disappointing that once again we have been let down by the defence....although having said that Boruc is earning his crust. Will be interesting to see Man City down here just after losing to Newcastle....... We are going to have to do better than draw folks thats for sure....still a point is a point that is for sure. Are Reading going to do what they did last year.....and have another great run in?
I don't really understand some of the reaction on here. Two goals scored in the last 10 minutes. If they were scored the other way around would we all feel much better about the result? I suspect most would, but at the end of the day, it's a point away from home. We battered them in the second half (according to those watching) and didn't win. On the other hand, we did batter them. The other results didn't go our way, is all. If Reading and Villa had lost the we would all be feeling much better about the same result.
That was really galling. Hard to pick out a top performer... Lambert, Rodriguez, Shaw, Cork, Schneiderlin all superb. No-one was even poor, Puncheon wasn't up with the pace of the game mentally, and Ramirez was struggling but really came into it in the last 10 of the half. Davis, Lallana and WP all great off the bench. So many superlatives for our boys effort and yet one missed header from Maya and then another from Jos and that's enough to not win a game in which we dominated and were fantastic. That's football. Unacceptable to concede twice like that and really I feel we had enough opportunities to put 3/4 away, but meh... I have a lot of contrasting thoughts and emotions and struggling to put them into words so I will cut my usual 3000 word rant short and go headbutt a wall for a while. Bonsoir.
Of course it matters which way around the goals were scored - it makes that stupid "points lost from winning positions" stat more poignant!
Anyone else also want to see Davis in place of Ramirez for the next game? Been very poor lately and transfer fee shouldnt guarantee a space in the team
